This park is the hub of summer fun for local families. It offers just about everything you'd want in a park. There's a very nice play structure that accommodates all ages, a train engine for kids to play in, walking paths, covered pavilions with picnic tables, a band shell for outdoor concerts, and it's right on the river. It also borders a disc golf course.

If you are in or near the Roseburg area during the 4th of July do not miss this wonderful way to end our patriotic day. Live music that begins in the late afternoon. Bring your blankets, lawnchairs, BBQ's, NO ALCOHOL PLEASE. Fun for all the kids can play close enough where you don't have to worry, everyone is in a good mood. There are vendors but not so many that it is annoying, basically the same vendors every year. The facepainting lady and her family, the kettle corn making Firemen, Umpqua and a few others. Great time for everyone!!! Spectacular fireworks and live bands for free!!!!

This park has a playground for kids, a locomotive for kids to climb on, plus a multi-use path for walking, running, or bicycling. The paved path heads past the disk golf course, along the river, and to downtown, as well as to the "duck pond" by the Fred Meyer store. The park is adjacent to the South Umpqua River. There are bathrooms by the playground/locomotive as well as by the duck pond.

Duck pond. Don't take your family down there the entire place is filled with homeless and their garbage. Disgusting! Is this really what we have allowed our town to become??? I am ashamed to be an Oregonian, I'm ashamed of our town and ashamed of the people that have allowed this to happen.

Nice sunrise, and large green space on the river. Easy walk from the hotel. Safe and well paved walkways abound.

Stewart Park,
The city here caters to Golfers, They have taken 90% of this once nice park and Shrunk it down to a level thats pretty much pathetic. They have improved the the kids play areas which is good but the park has lost its luster. You can drive around the park and see maintenance people standing around pretty much all the time, while weeds and garbage are around. The bathrooms resembled something you'd find in a third world country. This is my home town for over 20 years so I hate to come down so hard on this park. But its pretty bad.
The golfers here rule the park, there is no smoking in Stewart Park, yet you can see old timers out on the green smoking and the police do nothing about it .
Events in the park are worse, as every free loaders shoes up with their wifebeater t-shirts and
sweats and bathrobes. Really ?
Roseburg and this park has potential, but the people here do not care and if it has the word free Id avoid any events here.
I avoid the area for the most part its just sub-par.
Watch your purse and lock your car as homeless people are abound in this area.

Not the largest or most stunning community park, but it has so many things to do. There is a loop around the outside and a street up the middle that make for a variety of loops and distances to run. It has a disc golf course as well as a regular golf course. There is an old steam engine and play equipment for children to climb on and enjoy. There are many open grassy areas by the river to sit and muse and enjoy. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are on leash and are picked-up after. I actually ran from my hotel and back to add distance, and felt very safe and the way was nearly level. Wonderful duck pond/wetland area with a variety of wildlife.

Well-planned big park with great trails long (2.5+ mile) and short (.5) for every need and speed. Playgrounds and music venue right on the Umpqua River. Big pond with ducks and geese and offspring in spring. Fred Meyer nearby for liquid relief.

Hi,
Just got your note. The event is called "music on the half shell". It is on the North side of the river on West Stewart Park Drive close to Stewart Parkway. Once summer arrives you will see the half shell...

Could anyone recommend lodging near this park? I was hoping to find a vacation home over the weekend, but the options appear to be extremely limited.
