Some interesting landscape photo possibilities without needing to hike the trails if you are not particularly fit.

Smith Rock has always been a great place see some awesome scenery and get some exercise. Even in the cooler days of spring and fall it tends to be a little warmer than the surrounding areas. With Central Oregon becoming more and more popular it...More

We drove out the road to Smith Rock State Park. Its a day use park only and a fee area. The rock formations are beautiful to see. We were there later in the day. There are places to walk and enjoy the vista views.

The park fills up by mid-day. Trails, easy and challenging. Rock climbing for serious and beginners. Enjoy the views of thirty-million years of volcanic landscaping. Bring your camera, lots of water and wear boots if you take to the trails. Stunning and inspirational.

We took the lower trail around to the Monkey Face pinnacle. You can also take the Misery Trail to the top of the rocks. We spent 2-3 hours on our visit and saw: ducks & geese, heron, snake, and a young eagle learning to fish.

It is breath taking to see so much beauty. If you go make sure to take plenty fluids with when hiking. Also, hiking books will make it easier on your feet.

This was my second time to Smith Rock. The views are amazing, but in my opinion, this trail is not good for beginning hikers. Even the river loop trail is a bit difficult, mostly due to the heat and lack of water source. Misery trail...More

Smith Rock is very well known among rock climbers. The State Park is exceedingly well maintained with excellent walking trails of varying difficulty. The scenery is simply outstanding and well worth the visit. Just a short drive North of Bend.

We went on a 1 hour hike and then planned a sunset dinner picnic watching the amazing sunset. This is a magical location and you need to go exploring the area,

This is a great rock climbing location. If you dont want to scale the face you can climb to the top of monkey face with just some strong hiking skills. Good trail and views if you want to skip all the vertical work.

There is only one entrance/exit to this state park from Hwy 97. I would recommend to you to stop at the first parking lot in the park. From there leads a easy flat trail that takes you around the southern edge of the steep... More

You can see quite a bit from the parking areas. If you simply cannot get out of the car you can still get a decent panorama of the cliffs. Better, if you can park and walk to the rim at the various parking areas you'll get... More
