My boyfriend and I did the Misery Ridge Hike in late September. We did the counter clockwise loop, so we crossed the bridge and immediately started the switchbacks. It was rough, and we're both pretty active 23 year olds! Though most of our hiking is...More

On-line recommendation from Oregon Tourism and we were really looking forward to hiking there. We were not disappointed. Although fairly busy, parking was easy. Its a steep descent to the bottom but the river walk is easy with fine views at the lower level. Climb/hike...More

This park is a beautiful place to walk or hike. It is known for rock climbing for the experts in this sport - not for beginners. You can take a strenuous hike, or just an easy walk. Interesting to watch the climbers. This is a...More

Picturesque and unusual hiking area for this region. It is a bit like Sedona on a much smaller scale. We only stopped at Smith Rock for an hour on our way to the coast. We were planning to go hiking but got side tracked along...More

A nice morning spent enjoying the very impressive scenery and views, coupled with some pleasant and not too strenuous walks. The climbers were well in evidence and were found on most of the suitable faces. The weather was great when we visited but might have...More

A hardy hike on Misery Ridge trail is well worth the dazzling views along the way, let alone the grandeur once you get to the summit. For the less hardy, you may walk along the river to another trail head that you ascend to the...More

Go, just go. Bring water, wear sunscreen and hike in awe. Get there early, at least on the weekend, by 10:30 all the spots were taken for parking and they will ticket if you park on side streets.

Smith Rock looks like nothing from Rt. 97 and we doubted that it would be any better as we drove through farm land to get closer. A family of mule deer forced us to stop at the entrance to the parking lot, we looked around,...More

Spectacular views and hiking and trails for all types of people. My 80 year old dad waited at the top of the trails and walked around while we walked to the bottom. Not a bad hike but I recommend taking water and be sure you...More

This was a surprise for us. We hiked part of the room trail then went down into the gorge and hiked. The difference in the views was such a surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We could have spent many more hours hiking here!

There is only one entrance/exit to this state park from Hwy 97. I would recommend to you to stop at the first parking lot in the park. From there leads a easy flat trail that takes you around the southern edge of the steep... More

You can see quite a bit from the parking areas. If you simply cannot get out of the car you can still get a decent panorama of the cliffs. Better, if you can park and walk to the rim at the various parking areas you'll get... More
