Very scenic road with lots of curves, towering cliffs, the river, and general central Oregon high desert charm. Lots of places to stop, some places to camp, and great access for those wanting to fish or view wild life.

We were able to stop at several sites along the way to take pictures. Saw lots of deer. Not a lot of traffic in Nov. It was great!

About 4 miles out of Prineville going towards Bowman Dam you get into the canyon and it is amazing. I have taken hundreds of pictures of this canyon and I have not been able to do it justice. It is a windy little paved road so pay attention but with all the places to pull over you can stop and... More

We decided to travel back to Bend from Prineville along this route and we were amazed at the scenery. We expected a little road travelling through desert-like terrain and we found unique cliffs and rock formations, a quiet river and some areas to pull off and take in the surroundings. If you have to time to amble along - take... More

The views are great and there are several places to camp and fly fish really near the river that are calling us. But of course it's right in our back yard, so we haven't availed ourselves of those pleasures...yet! There are a few spots that made a friend who has fear of heights quite anxious. I guess I need to... More

One of our favorite local motorcycle rides. Very scenic, follows the Crooked River for the majority of the drive with plenty of camping available.

This was our second time doing this drive and again it was well worth the drive and visit. The views of the rock formations, canyons, and river are fantastic. Nice picnic and campground areas are along the way. I particularly like the Chimney Rock Campground because of the old hand operated water pump. The water is cold and good. All... More

We went driving down and had fun seeing all the rock formations along the beautiful river. Well worth the time.
