Unexpected gem

When we visited Portland this summer, we came upon this park by accident. There is a great beach as well as amble parking and bathrooms. It's really a beautiful spot.

We were one stop away from the airport just looking for a good view, unfortunately everything was super muddy so we turned right around, did get to see north Portland though!

Really wonderful park at the point where the Willamette River meets the Columbia. Vancouver is on one side, Sauvie Island the other. Stroll through the cottonwoods, then walk along the beach. Lovely soft sand with lots of large driftwood to sit or climb on. Lots of people fishing, picnicing, dipping their toes in. Great place to spend a hot summer... More

Kind of a funny little park. We were lost in the bushes trying to get there from the parking lot. Was beautiful when we made it.

Outside of summer holidays this is a bit off the beaten path. Great access to the Columbia River. Good place to walk or sit and watch the world go by. Don't be fooled by the drive to get their past the industrial buildings it's worth it once you get there. There are two separate parking areas and trails connecting both... More

It is a little private; not terribly public. That is what I really liked about it. There isn't anything I don't like about it.

Hard to believe Kelley Point Park is surround by other parks. Industrial parks. The main draw for me at this park is walking out to the point where the 2 big rivers meet. The Willamette and Columbia. Made a nice loop walk out of it. After leaving the river part on the north end, the rest of the loop is... More

This park is a very quiet and beautiful place to visit. Though there were many cars parked in the area, we ran into very few people. The beach was very nice and had a spectacular view of the Columbia and Williamette rivers. It was really cool to see the cargo vessels coming in! Wonderful place to walk off dinner!

We spent a Tuesday afternoon down by the river and it was not crowded at all. A lot less people than Sauvie Island and lacked some of the partying type people that have been hanging out there in recent summers which appealed to me. Really beautiful and fun!

My husband and I was staying downtown Portland and I wanted to see the confluence of the Willamette River and the Columbia River. The map indicated there was a city park, so we went hunting for it. If we thought traffic was bad in Denver, it's much worse in Portland. I used google maps to weave us through a maze... More
