We were told that this area was a great place to see beautiful, Victorian style homes so we took the MAX and ventured downtown. Boy, were we ever mislead! Homeless people everywhere we looked. Yes, there were some beautiful statues, but we couldn't walk into the parks because there were literally homeless people camped out and sleeping practically on top... More

I enjoy parks. Parks are supposed to be safe, peaceful and allows people to rest and enjoy the scenery. But not South Park Blocks. They are far too many homeless people loitering around this park and it needs to be maintained.

The local farmer's market held on Saturday was a great way to spend the morning. The most distinctive ornaments are the Benson drinking fountains.

The South Park area is lovely. Lots of trees and benches for great strolls. The university is at one end. It has theatres and museums, plus cafes and beautiful homes. This is a real urban oasis, with Teddy overlooking the area.

Great place to stroll and enjoy Portland people, trees, and architecture. Plenty of parking areas, near museums and churches. Gorgeous in fall. Plenty of places to sit. Definitely a few transients and unsavory types, but it feels pretty safe friendly.

Went to the Saturday open air food market where locals go. Later, just strolled through the multi-block park, sat on a bench under the shade trees and enjoyed the scenery. Why don't all cities have parks like this?

This will become your go to place in Portland. I've always sat at the bar where Will has educated & entertained me with his knowledge and selection of wines. He's just as good with mixed drinks. Order some appetizers and you are set, just wait for the interesting people to come in.

The Park Blocks- both North and South- were both included in the original design of the city of Portland, and they really have turned into two amazing parks. The South Park Blocks runs for a total of twelve blocks, each one containing a different piece of public art. The art includes both traditional pieces like statues of Teddy Roosevelt and... More

Using a good map we just stumbled on this narrow green space walking around the core of downtown Portland. It is such a pleasant way to see some amazing architecture throughout this beautiful city. We wanted to see the landmark bell tower atop the First Congregational Church and noticed the narrow green corridor across the road. The church’s Italianate Gothic... More

I live two blocks from the South Park Blocks which stretch from Portland State University on the south to Salmon Street -- about 8 or 9 blocks. The Portland Art Museum, the Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Oregon Historical Society and the Performing Arts Center are all bordering these wonderful, shady blocks. I use the park blocks daily.
