Living down south in the Willamette Valley, I needed to be up in Portland for the weekend. Had hoped to take the train from Albany up north, but was disappointed to learn that some years ago the mid-morning Amtrak train had been eliminated. Thankfully, there...More

Step into the past in this classic train station. There is also the opportunity to visit the second floor to view photos taken over the years of the station and old Portland.

I grew up in Portland. 1949 to 1956. We used to travel downtown from our home on Halsey Street across the Burnside Bridge. I always admired the train station as it brought to mind the beginnings and ends of fabulous trips, to and from California...More

We took the train back to Vancouver, BC and so were here as passengers. It's an old station, perhaps not a lot to see inside, but we were processed quickly and were comfortable while waiting. No restaurant but there are vending machines.

We took the Empire Builder to Spokane and loved the journey. The roomette was comfortable and clean. We sat back and watched the scenery go by as dinner was served to us. Smooth ride and great service. I am definitely taking it again.

The Portland Train station is not to be missed if you are interested in the old sites of the Pacific Northwest. This is a beautiful example of old school Portland.

I was incredibly impressed with the Metropolitan Lounge--it made me feel like a valued Amtrak passenger. It is open to business and sleeping car passengers, and has free coffee, water, and tea. There is free wifi, and you get to board first. There are also...More

We came here to take the Amtrak to Vancouver BC. There are vestiges of yesteryear still visible. I'll bet this place was kind'a cool in its day. Today, it's just a dirty train station.

Traveled to Portland from Seattle on Amtrak. Union Station is quite a beautiful old building. The station was clean and security was visible.

It is illegal to smoke within 25 feet of buildings in Washington. Smoking is probably outside near the curb.
