Tiny, niche museum

Tiny, niche museum... We enjoyed our visit and the exhibits were unique. The exhibits we saw were more contemporary art than craft and the were interesting.

The museum is closing for good in April. The gift shop is already closed. It's a tiny museum -- only two rooms. Not worth $6.

So as a museum of CRAFT I expected to see all types of wonderful creations from furniture to weave to ceramics etc. But nothing like this was to be found. The gift shop is nice to wander around but in a city like Portland I can't believe this is the best a Museum of Contemporary Craft can do.

Went to see what is crafty in Portland. This facility is associated with the Pacific Northwest College of Art. There is an art space downstairs that was dedicated to a strange knit installation of a chainlink fence with knit barbed wire top. Inside the fence was a family of upholstered sasquatches. Upstairs there were some strange video things going on... More

There are many talented craftspeople in Oregon and the Northwest. We expected to see works in a variety of materials on display. In fact, there appears to be no permanent collection, and the current exhibit was small and disappointing.

Wonderful special exhibitions. Mostly high quality Oregon crafts- pottery, glass, baskets, and weavings. Good quality and value in the shop as well.

My two teenage children and I were entranced by the exibits in such a gorgeous space, an oasis in a busy city. There was something for the eyes and ears with artists' exploration of sound paired with visuals of different types. Textiles, glass, wood, ceramics, even glowing gases were on display along with helpful videos about the artists. We learned,... More

This was our first visit to The Museum of Contemporary Craft. The exhibits are changing so you will have to see what is available to decide if this is something you want to do. The main display we saw was called "Living With Glass" and was the collection of Ed Cauduro and Dane Nelson. It featured their Italian Art Glass... More

If the exhibit is good this is a gem. It is really well designed and the exhibits are beautifully curated. I saw a very small exhibit of British Pottery which was free as the main hall was changing. But it is a lovely place The gift shop is exceptional and the quality and selection top notch and very well priced.... More

This is a museum which has tried to put together an attraction with limited funding and it shows. It is located on 2 floors near the north parks in downtown Portland and it took my wife and me about 20 minutes to see what we needed. Whatever we paid to get in, it was too much.
