The people of Portland sure hype up this area like it's something great. In reality, it's overpriced, snobby, & very underwhelming. Keep Portland WEIRD.

This is a great gallery and dining district with some of the regions best restaurants and art venues. Not sure how anyone could not like it.....big city or not.

Perhaps affected by the fact that we went in March and the day was rainy/cloudy, but I didn't find the Pearl District to be worth the visit. If you are from a big city, this area may not meet your expectations. I expected to find a very upscale and interesting area, but thought it was a bit run down and... More

Went to the Pearl Tavern to watch the Ducks and the atmosphere was everything we expected. Drinks were spectacular and dinner had options for us all, including a delicious vegan roasted vegetable option. Crispy trout and the beet salad were also excellent. Adding to the Northwest feel the staff wear Filson clothing. To top it off the Ducks won making... More

I came to town for the National Ceramic Conference, and we spent the first day in the Pearl touring galleries. Many, many terrific galleries. Funky vibe in the neighborhood. So much window shopping and people watching. We had numerous choices for restaurants at lunch time, all of them undoubtedly good. Toward the outer edges, closer to the river, it gets... More

Had some neat little shops but a lot of the larger stores (like Macys) are closing. A work in process

We were in the downtown area but headed up to Pearl and enjoyed some great shopping options as well as bars and restaurants. Very clean, great old buildings and of course the Powell Bookstore.

Lots to see and do here. Many eating establishments and local bars. Great to walk around and look, and watch out that you don't stop in too many places and eat. You'll be too full.

Big difference street to street. You walk and see expensive shops, turn a corner and see homelessness and addiction with people sleeping along the sidewalks, turn another corner and see quaint artistic businesses.
