We have been to a few zoos including St. Louis and San Diego Zoos. I think the Portland Zoo is the best! First, there is no "animal smells" that we experienced at the St.Louis zoo. It is very family friendly and easy to get around. Animals are displyed in natural habitat and well cared for.

This zoo is very well done with lots of excellent exhibits. It is so well designed for both the animals and the people visiting - both young and old. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it - got to see young lions playing, giraffes eating, cheetahs up close, orangutans swinging up high, a bald eagle up close in the tree tops,... More

The Oregon Zoo has some great things- the elephants!, the bats, the Polar Bears, bald eagles, beavers... but it has become less family friendly. It now costs $11.50 per adult & $8.50 per child. It's quite expensive for a family of 4 to visit with any regularity. The zoo is open 6 hours per day during the winter. It's Oregon-... More

Portland is changing their animal areas by reducing the number of critters and providing larger space for those animals they want to exhibit. The elephant area is fantastic for both for these big packaderms and their audience.

In January, I came to the zoo to see all the animals, and in February to attend the grand opening of Elephant Land. It is just amazing to see what they have done for the elephants with the expansion of land for them, and all the information they provide on the care, feeding, habits, etc. Elephant Land is awesome! It... More

We took our 5yo grandson to we the new elephant habitat. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. Great strolling through the park, lots of places to see the elephants. We all learned a great deal about their habitat, eating, playing and keeping them healthy. Our grandson was amazed to see them running. The Oregon Zoo is a... More

I have been to a number of zoos along the west coast, including the famous San Diego Zoo, and this is by far my favorite! Great layout, nice animal habitats... just the best!

I went to the zoo with a 2, 8, 13, 26, 28, and 54 year old. We all had a blast. There are so many exhibits and animals to see. Even though one of the sections was under construction we still had an amazing time. I like how everything was sectioned out into regions. The parking can be tricky, but... More

We had a great time at the zoo, once we found a parking spot. With the museums and the park and the zoo sharing a lot, it was ROUGH to find a spot at 10am on a Saturday. I honestly should have known. the elephant enclosure alone is worth the entry fees, but make sure to check out the Northwest... More
