We went in late December and weren't sure if it was such a great idea. Being from Las Vegas, we don't do cold. It was a blast! We had warm jackets, scarves and gloves so it was fine. A little hot chocolate kept the chills away. The best thing about a December visit is that there were maybe 20 people... More

This zoo is located in beautiful Washington Park, on the west side of downtown. It is easily accessibly by the MAX light rail, the station is only steps from the front entrance. I definitely recommend using public transport as the parking is limited and expensive, especially on beautiful summer days. The zoo is not huge relative to other zoos I've... More

We enjoyed this beautiful zoo. I don't think December is a good time to go because it was cold as it is mostly outdoors. Most of the animals were sleeping and staying warm unless it was indoor exhibit. Many of the food and snack bars were closed. There was so much offered in education about conservation and the animals. The... More

My most recent trip to the Oregon Zoo was with a group of third graders for a ZooSnooze, which is an overnight stay and private tour of the zoo for large groups. However, I have made time to visit with just my family during regular hours, as well. The zoo always feels very clean, even during peak hours. The zoo... More

We went there for the Zoo Lights over the holiday period. A great visit for all ages, we truly enjoyed, even in the cold. Another "event" to check out are the Zoo Concerts in the summer--a definite must if you live here or are just visiting.

The Oregon Zoo boasts a variety of your favorite animals in habitat like environments. Elephants, giraffes, polar bears and primates are amazing to watch. Visit during the week in the summer to avoid the crowds.

this zoo is one of the best on the west coast. they are constantly upgrading it. the new elephant enclosure is top of the line. Nora the newest polar bear is an audience grabber. They also have one of the best elephant programs around. it's fun for all ages.

I am a 4th generation Oregonian, and my kids 5th, and now have grandsons as 6th generation! We all love the Oregon zoo! We usually pack a lunch and make a day of it! So many great exhibits and fun to see the animals in all types of weather. The Zoo train is fun, and the concerts put on there... More

I am in love with the Oregon Zoo. It is by far the best zoo I have ever experienced with a wide range of native PNW and non-native animals set in the gorgeous Washington Park forest. The people that work there are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. An excellent place for both kids and adults! If you are visiting Portland, I... More

I love this zoo! I've been to plenty of zoos throughout the country and the Oregon Zoo is definitely in the top 3. It's the perfect sized zoo for a one day trip- other zoos I've been to just have too much and it's difficult to see everything in one day while others are so small you spend all that... More
