Within the confines of the Portland Metro area are many 'get-aways' including large parks and green spaces for walking and getting "back to nature." TRYON CREEK is the champ of them all; a wealth of trails to choose from; short, long and in-between; amazing trees, underbrush, well - maintained trails and an interpretive center. A Portland treasure

For me to enjoy a hike, I have to feel as if I escape from the crowds and/or the roads with cars. This park has a "hemmed in" feeling to it that prevents me from really enjoying it. I sort of just feel as if I am going around in circles. Best if you want to exercise a wee bit... More

in the past I have spent a lot of time in this park but it is not a park where you can go and let's say have a picnic or play some games or do anything like that about all you can do is walk around on some nondescript rails so it's is interesting enough but not something you'd really... More

Drove through this lovely area. Surprised to find it so close to downtown. No hiking due to disability, but enjoyed the turn offs with benches.

There may be more strenuous hikes here, but I found it to be a very pleasant place for an easy hike/stroll along the well-maintained paths. A little out of the way at the south end of Portland proper, it is really only easily accessible, I believe, by car or bike. But, the park has a very large and active group... More

We visited Tryon Creek State Park one morning during our visit with our son in Portland. It's a wonderful forested area to walk and meander with streams and well-maintained paths throughout. Unlike many of steep trails in the Cascade River Gorge, the paths we walked were either level or gentle to moderate gradient. Although second-growth forest, the Doug firs and... More

I did 2 hikes in this state park, one week apart. There is not a lot of parking, but I was always able to find a spot. For being right in the city, while I definitely passed other people on the trails, there were not so many people that it felt crowded. I like the fact that there is no... More

Tryon Creek State Park is one of our favorite close, regular getaways from life in the city. Located about fifteen minutes from our house, this hidden gem is simply amazing. There are miles of lovely, groomed trails going deep into the forest. The scenery, the beauty, the wildlife and 'freshness' of the park is so healing and so relaxing. We... More

Love having such a beautiful place to walk and hike with the family right in town. Great trails, incredible views, and a learning center with bathrooms make it a perfect place for families.
