The museum covers three floors, but there was nothing on display on the second floor when I visited. Most history, from American Indians all the way through the 1950s, is covered. There are also two small theaters, each showing a different short film that is worth seeing. The basement level has newspaper clippings and paintings from local artists. Nice museum... More

We enjoyed our visit to the Oregon Historical Society Museum. This was a first time visit for us to Portland and we feel like we learned a lot visiting the museum!

I actually visited the Oregon Historical Society Museum at a wedding. I didn't even know this place was there and I was intrigued by this intimate, interesting little museum. Definitely want to visit the Museum by day, and highly recommend it if you're looking for a nice party venue!

If you can't be outside this may be a good alternative. I get bored easily so this was a bit slow for me. There were 2 short films but even they didn't really impress me. Some of the lights were out over some exhibits making it very hard to see what was there. A lot of reading and not much... More

While the admission of $11 for adults might seem a bit much for a 1-2 hour stay, there is a lot to do for families with children. Most of the major exhibit on the history of Oregon (and it is EXTREMELY well done!) is on the 3rd floor (you work way down through the museum). The rest of the museum... More

This is a beautiful museum with a treasure trove of fascinating Oregon history and is located on the Park Blocks opposite the Portland Art Museum. Though there is an excellent permanent exhibit on display on the top floor, there's usually a separate exhibit spotlighting a particular noteworthy event such as the Vanport Flood of the '40s. A lot of important... More

This is one of my fave spots to hit mid week, no kids, low volume. I want to think and explore, learn and take away cool facts, and develop new ideas and frameworks about Oregons past

Shows how hard we had it in those days and what people had to go through to live their lives and travel.
