Best bookstore in the world. Absolutely everything you could ever want to read. Organized friendly and amazing. People travel from all over the country to go to this book store for good reason. It is the best.

For those boring afternoons, that is nowhere to go, or Sunday before dinner, or if you are in downtown waiting for your reservation on a restaurant or Saturday noon with no activities. You can go there and take your time, kids can pick books, you...More

The building is enormous and if you cannot find what you are looking for here they can find it for you. It's large but well organized. If you have plenty of time I suggest just wandering around and looking at the whole place. If you...More

I doubt if there is another Powell's anywhere in the country! They have it all--and more. My family, visiting from the Bay Area, makes Powell's a MUST every time the visit. It's wonderful.to have all titles shelved together--new, used, hard and paperback!

This place is monstrous in terms of a book store. There are several levels and probably a million books (literally), maybe more. I didn’t appreciate how political books were laid out in such a way that rebuked a particular political party in the main entrance,...More

This place is unbelievable! Was there for 3 hours and probably got to see only about 15% of the entire place. New and used books available for purchase. A must see when you visit Portland.

It’s intimidating at first but the greatest book store I’ve ever seen. Use the computers to look up titles- they let you know which colored room to head to which is super helpful. I could spend hours!

My family didn't believe me that this was the largest bookstore in the world. But when we walked in... it was incredible! There is so much to see. I was a little disappointed that the check out lines were SOOOOO long! So if you want...More

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
