This is a great place to get lost for a few hours. Multiple levels and rooms of books, books and books along with a some novelty items journals, portland souvenirs etc. They have everything and you feel as though you are in a library not many comfortable nooks but definitely literary treasures abound! Highly recommend not your average Barnes &... More

There is little you won't be able to find here. It's easy to spend hours and can be overwhelming but it's worth the visit.

Rows upon rows upon rows of books. I would have never imagined spending hours in a book store but we did. This store is iconic! You must go here!

Anyone who even remotely likes reading could happily get lost in Powell's for a whole day. Plus, they buy your old (gently read) copies and give a very reasonably store credit. A must-go for anyone visiting PDX!

Having heard about Powell's for years, I was even more impressed being there. What a treat it was to go to a section and find, not just new books, but many used books that were more than affordable. Such an extensive collection is very special indeed.

Stopped here with the family. We gave ourselves an hour to look around... little did we know that we would use the entire hour just to go through half of the kids section. This place is huge. Plan your time wisely! I know I'll need to set aside at least 2 or 3 hours on my next visit. The store... More

This place is huge! If you are looking for a specific book, my guess is you will find it here. Taking up quite literally a city block with multiple "stories," this place is a must if you love books and are looking for something unique. I found it hard to really enjoy due to the huge crowds of people that... More

I can get lost in here for hours. Very helpful staff, large large large or I'll just say enormous selection of books. Make a day of it, grab a coffee ;)

I love bookstores and wandering the racks so of course Powell's was a must do. They have a store map because it is that big! Unfortunately this was a must for hundreds of other people too. Lines were long and the ambiance is lost shouldering through crowds. I would not go back to wander but only to pick up a... More
