One of the great bookstores of the world. I wish their signage inside made more sense, like how to find sections of books, and move around within the large store. The rare book room is interesting... but $24 for a souvenir t-shirt does seem high....More

Huge bookstore with used and new books, Portland souvenirs and a cafeteria. Location is perfect, in the heart of Northwest district and in one of the brewery blocks. There are books of all styles and prices, and also some stationary. Totally worth the visit

Powell’s _is_ books. All book lovers in the US know this iconic city of books (and coffee—after all, it is Portland.) New and used books, helpful staff, a store so large they give you a map to get around, souvenirs, Powell’s has it all. I...More

Our usual visit to Powells is walking in with a bag of books we have read and don't want any longer, stroll along and let them scan them in - they will offer cash or store credit for those they will buy from you (and...More

I wish I have stayed 4 hours on the bookstore, but my husband was glad I didn’t! It’s really amazing how big and organized they are. Also the staff is really helpful and nice. Even if you’re not the books fan, it worthy the visit....More

Spent half a day here and it is a must do. If you don't find it here, it cannot be found! There was good underground parking that is free if you get your ticket stamped in the store.

Powell's City of Books is a pretty great place for people who want to buy a regular priced actual book to hold in their hand. The store itself can be overwhelming but there are lots of signs to help you find what you're looking for....More

If there is a bigger book store anywhere then it must be absolutely huge. Pretty good coffee shop if you need a break from browsing. We were looking for a fairly obscure book, quick check on their system and it tells you where to find...More

A trip to Portland's iconic Powells is an experience you don't want to miss. It's the largest used and new bookstore in the world. To really see it all requires more than one day. I love going here with my daughter and grandchildren just to...More

Sure, digital selection outweighs the contents of Powell's... But: - The sights are worth it - The smells are worth it - The slow, meandering through the isles is worth it - The rare books section was worth it My only sadness? Wish there were...More

They have a parking lot! I also usually find parking on the street a couple blocks to the west. And, I often combine Powell's with a stop at Whole Foods, so I park at Whole Foods, go to Powell's, come back to WF and buy what... More
