The Deadman's Pass rest stop is surrounded by tress and includes several pavilions with great information placards about the Lewis and Clark trail. I learned from them a number of interesting facts I hadn't know before. The viewpoint is a mile or two up a frontage road from the rest stop. The view is beautiful and expansive. If you're pressed for time, I don't think it's worth the drive since you can see essentially the same scenery from the road as you're driving. But if you want photos or a picnic, etc., it's a great place to drive to after using the restrooms at the rest stop. And since it requires a short drive from the rest stop, most people don't bother going there so you're likely to have the place to yourself.

I have enjoyed driving up the mountains throughout my life and the view point was usually the first stop, just to look and enjoy. Good memories at this view overlooking the base of the Blues, Pendleton, and all the farm land. I love it. No bathrooms though. Just FYI.

Drove up to the viewpoint one night to watch the sunset and was not disappointed! The view goes on for miles and miles and miles and the sunset was beautiful.

Deadman Pass is an interstate highway pass in eastern Oregon that climbs up over a series of low mountains. At the top is a rest area that provides a spectacular view!

I was here in April and all the fields were nice and green. It was a clear day and the view was amazing. Definitely recommend stopping here for a good photo-op.
