We were the only visitors during our roughly 90 minute stay, so we got a personal tour. It's slowly under construction, with just one of the three floors open. There are two videos totaling 8 minutes for viewing (will be 45 minutes when the auditorium is completed) with a brief history of Newport and the building the Center occupies. The... More

Nothing but a creeky, musty, old house with a few vintage pictures on the wall. Not sure what there is to do here after the first five minutes, except look out at the bay. They spent major bucks rebuilding this rambling old structure and as I understand it's operated on city money, county money and donations while they charge excessive... More

Mr Stilwell is correct the building is creeky as parts of date from 1880s, 1920s, and circa 1980. The must and mold were thoroughly cleaned out of the building when we acquired it back in 2004. The building was a home which was converted to a nightclub. It is 30,000 square feet, and yes, it is a bit rambling, some... More

We were the only ones in place when we visited. The hostess there was very informative and it was interesting learning more about the history of Newport. I think it will get even better as they expand the displays. The video we saw was well done and the views from their deck were incredible.

A fun quick stop with the kids. Surfing and Maritime history of the area. The building is worth a walk though alone and the view.

We always try to hit a little history on every trip we take and this was no exception. Great little tour with lots to see and made us much more appreciative of the coast guard and fishermen who call this town home.

First, let me say I live here. This small museum is a work of love and dedication that turned a vacant historic structure into a worthwhile stop to grab some interesting history, take some good bay photos, and perhaps find a fine art painting to grace your living space. A bright moment in USA/USSR Cold War history is well explained... More

I've lived in this area for many years. This building has gone through multiple owners and had its ups and downs and it's nice to see it restored to such good condition. The current museum is not large and does not have tons of exhibits, but for only $5 per adult, it's worth a visit. There is an interesting display... More
