We had the pleasure of being served our wine tasting flights by the vineyard’s owner. He patiently spent more than an hour answering our questions about wine production, his land, and his vines. This was a one of a kind glimpse into his business. He has owned Utopia for over twenty years and was a full-time worker in the industry long before that. Opinionated yet kind, his presentation was likely the highlight of our trip.
On, and the wines were excellent and the view was lovely!

The Willamette Valley is beautiful. If you love Pinot Noir you will love visiting the wineries. If you are not a huge Pinot Noir fan, you might not love the wine but the vineyards are gorgeous and the people charming. However, Utopia Winery was a disastrous experience. I enjoyed the tasting room and even ordered wine from them which I had shipped to my mother since I live abroad. Not only did Utopia send the wrong order but they harassed my mother while she was on vacation, constantly calling her to demand that she send it back right away. This of course was impossible since she was not at home at the time. The Utopia representative was incredibly rude to her, never once apologized for mixing up the orders, many times yelled at her for being unable to do what they demanded, never thanked her for the extra trouble she had to go through to correct their mistake. After a date was agreed upon for the wrong shipment to be picked up and for my original shipment to be delivered, Utopia failed to live up to their end. I still have not received my wine which at this point I would prefer to cancel but do not want to have to talk to the rude representatives. As I am only in the U.S. for a short period I fear it won't arrive before I leave and am worried about the condition it will be in as they wanted us to leave the package to be returned outside all day in the sun for pickup.

When I first read this review I was sorry to hear about the customer's bad experience with the wine shipment. I wish that I would have known about it so I could have helped rectify the situation, but, I was never contacted by the customer or spoke to her again after she left my tasting room. Like all wineries Utopia uses common carriers to deliver our wine and once we give the wine shipment to the shipper it is out of our hands and we must rely on the shipper to deliver the correct package to the correct customer. Most of the time they do an outstanding job but occasionally (as in all businesses) mistakes do happen. In spite of the fact that the customer herself stated in her review that she enjoyed the experience in the tasting room and the wine enough to order some I regret that the shipper did not fulfill the order correctly and that that detracted from her overall experience with Utopia.

My girlfriend and I stopped by Utopia today on a day of wine tasting. It is a small family owned winery and we were fortunate to meet Dan, the owner and winemaker. Dan was amazing. Completely knowledgeable and super friendly and he truly loves making wine. And the best part was every single wine they poured was truly outstanding. No joke. There wasn't a bad wine we tried. They were the 4th vineyard we have been to this weekend and they were by far the best. Of you are coming for a wine tasting weekend in the Willamette Valley, you mist stop by and try their wines.

I went here two years ago when we couldn't find the winery we were looking for and it was near closing time and we found a gem. This is definitely not the most developed and refined facility, but their wine is awesome and Daniel, the owner, is a great host. Nice to actually talk with the owner and winemaker instead of someone who is just a pourer. I've learned more about wine here than any other winery I've ever visited. A lovely experience!

We truly appreciated both the tasting and the education provided by Utopia. Dan - The wine maker - and his daughter - Erin - were phenomenal hosts. The wines - “all the Pinot’s, a great Chardonnay (2015) and their classic “777” were truly remarkable. We also enjoyed the added time spent walking the vineyard with Dan while better appreciating what goes into managing the vines before the wine! An amazing day - and thanks Erin/Dan!

Our driver took us to this place for our last winery of the day. It was nice to just sit down and learn directly from the owner. His wines are pretty good, not the best, but we really enjoyed our time. It was very relaxed and casual. The dessert Riesling is pretty delicious too.

I love Daniel's wine. Highly recommend the Paradise or the 2007 Pinot Noir. The Rose is not to shabby for an inexpensive bottle ($20). The whites are not my favorite but that's just my taste. Would recommend their fall harvest dinner too. I'm a member and have gotten others to join. They take large bus groups (how I first visited) as well as small parties. Feel free to bring your own snacks and make a day of it. I've brought my young daughter there ( 9 yrs) and she did great.

My wife and I visit a lot of wineries. This place rates towards the top for friendliness and customer service. The hilltop location is a great view. I just received my first wine shipment and it is fantastic. This should be a don't miss spot on your Williamette tour.

We spent over an hour at Utopia talking with the Dan, the winemaker/owner. We learned about how he came to winemaking and his history with the vineyard. It was so interesting to learn how he came to Oregon and started the vineyard. This type of visit is why people travel to vineyards - to learn and share.

Dan is a really cool guy. Very knowledgeable about wines, soils, and the current conditions affecting wineries. I spent a good deal of time conversing with him at his winery. His wines were all tasty. I ended up buying one of everything that I tasted! I would definitely visit this winery again.
