Nice to see but a lot of driving to go between the 3 different units and the whole area is isolated. It would be a good camping or RV trip as there is essentially no overnight lodging. Best to go in spring or fall when...More

Beautiful. Make sure you go down to the trail heads to get up close with the painted hills. Sunny days are best.

This is a must visit site. We visited the painted hills site in Sept 2016 it is truly breathtakingly gorgeous, They have about 4-5 different trails you can hike plus loads of differing areas for taking pictures

The visitor center has a good museum. Lots of hiking trails. Its too bad people cant stay on the trails, especially on the painted hills. Kinda ruins the effect.

I honestly don't know. Your best bet is to call the Monument's Visitor Center or perhaps the community of John Day's visitor center or Chamber of Commerce.
