Waterfront Park in Hood River is a true gem nestled in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge. This expansive park offers a delightful blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities that cater to visitors of all ages. As I strolled along the well-maintained pathways, I was captivated by the breathtaking views of the mighty Columbia River and the majestic Mount Hood standing proudly in the distance. In Cherry Wonderdog’s opinion, the park's lush green spaces are perfect for picnics or leisurely walks with canines in tow, while the sandy beach invites sun-seekers and water enthusiasts to cool off in the refreshing river. The park's well-designed amenities, including playgrounds, skatepark, and tennis courts, provide endless options for outdoor fun and recreation.

What set Waterfront Park apart for us was its vibrant atmosphere and sense of community. The park buzzed with energy as locals and visitors gathered to partake in events and gatherings. There was definitely a family-friendly environment here that fostered a welcoming spirit, making it a perfect spot for us to bond and create cherished memories. Bottom line, whether you're seeking a peaceful retreat in nature or an active day out with loved ones, Waterfront Park in Hood River offers a captivating experience that will leave you longing to return time and time again.

Great place to wander around and watch all the water sports. Very well kept and safe feeling. Like the life jackets for loan all over the park!

We had not originally planned to stop here. However, we stopped for lunch in Hood River and had been told it was a great place to watch wind- and kite-surfing. We noted this park on the map and decided to take a few minutes after lunch to check it out. This was on a Friday at around 1 p.m.

Our first challenge was parking. There are pay-to-park spaces all along the road adjacent to the park, but there are also a lot of restaurants and bars on the street. Between the park and the eateries, all the spots were full. We eventually managed to find a spot on a side street, apparently just outside the sewage facility...

We walked the 2 blocks to the park. It was crowded with surfers of various types and their audience. Apparently this is one of the premier wind- and kite-surfing spots in the area (maybe in the state or the U.S., for all I know). There were a LOT of people out on the river, and a steady stream entering and exiting.

We stayed for about 20 minutes watching before heading back to the car to resume our day-trip to Mt. Hood. If you are in the area, this is worth a quick stop to see.

We stopped here on a hot afternoon to cool off. The park is nice that it’s right in downtown but has limited amenities and a small swim beach. The sand was nice and the water was very cool but it was very crowded in the tiny swim area. There really wasn’t much shade available, just dry grassy areas. Parking is available in a pay lot or on the downtown side streets. Okay but definitely not something to go out of your way to see.

Very well designed large park- a few city blocks long, lots of grass and walls for sitting, benches scattered throughout and even a lower beach area. Had planned on a second hike and instead spent an enjoyable 90 minutes in this clean area. No crime.

This is a nice park with things for all ages, from playground-type equipment to kite sailing to interesting waterbirds to an amazing coffee place (Stoked) and a good brewery/restaurant (pFriem). Watch out for goose poop, though.

enjoyed watching people wind surf. It was amazing to see different flips they could do. The park is a nice green lawn area with some walking around it.

This park has a lot to offer. Plenty of parking, picnic spots and even a beach if you want to go in the water. There are places to eat and benches placed along the walk for viewing the beautiful river. It's a windsurfing ( and other similar type sports) mecca and the day we were there we got to see people practicing for a race.

Amazing location to watch the windsurfing, kitesurfing, kites, paddle boarding, and all things for wind and water. A fun, totally different experience for land lubbers.
