Nice area with very scenic waterfalls, hills and the river. There are yours or you can always just rent a car and drive there since it's pretty straight forward.

Allow plenty of time to explore each of the pullouts and waterfalls along this beautiful river. It is a must do when in the Pacific NW. Beware, the historic roads can be narrow, and the pullouts crowded in summer!

Truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen! The river, the mountains, the gorgeous trees- and such an interesting thought that just across the river you’re in another state! Everyone should visit!

We were there just days before the fire that destroyed so much of the gorge. It's heart breaking to know we'll never see it in all it's glory again in my life time.

Having always heard about the Columbia River Gorge, this summer we had the opportunity finally to drive it. It was indeed beautiful. We had some wet weather, but that didn't stop the fun or obscure the beauty. We had brought raingear, and still enjoyed hiking...More

Doug P is right. Time is about 20 minutes from Portland depending on traffic. Once in Troutdale s left you can travel on a parallel road that passes many parks and trailheads many lead to wonderful waterfalls. Use this road... More

I would suggest driving to Cascade Locks and crossing at the Bridge of the gods. Head west for 5 minutes or so and stop at Beacon Rock. Take the hike to the top of the rock. It's about a 30-45 minute hike up the side of... More
