No matter what your budget, anyone can have a great time in the Gorge. The nature alone is worth a visit. Hiking and camping are big. You can zip line, fish, go to a concert or spa or just chill. There are also lots of...More

Drove through here on my way westbound to Portland. This area with the water ways and railroad is part of the Oregon Trail traveled by early settlers. Highly recommend the scenic byway to Multnomah Falls and the Vista House at Crown Point. Really packed though...More

There is so much to say about the CRG and yet words do not seem to capture just how beautiful and spectacular it is! The views just driving along Interstate 84 in Northern Oregon along the CRG is just absolutely fabulous! Across the river is...More

There are too many places to articulate when describing the beautiful stretch of scenery. You will love Multonoma Falls and many other falls if you will only take the time to stop and look at them. Each trip is a joy.

We really enjoyed driving through the gorge and staying in a hotel in Hood River on the water. There are several overlooks which give great views so stop when you see one! Stop to see the kiteboarders out on the river too. I had never...More

The views from the scenic byway are beautiful as well as many waterfalls to see and explore. Some are a small hike and others are right along the road.

Plenty of great hikes, with great views, big trees with moss, waterfalls, rock formations, and diverse flora. Great white water rafting on several local rivers. Fishing, kite boarding, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, tastings at local vineyards and breweries, picking fresh fruit at one of the orchards...More

Lots of huge waterfalls to see, lots of hiking trails and multiple scenic overlooks. It was a sight to see, even on overcast cool days like we had.

Doesn't matter, just remember to have the sun at your back.
We are staying in Hood River and would like more information on the scenic drive all along the Columbia River Gorge. Which bridges would be best for crossing back and forth from Oregon to Washington and back?

If you have the time take them all. If you really have time take the gorge tour boat.
I am considering visiting in early April. We love to hike and don't mind a little cold, but seriously, would the weather be pretty miserable??? We would be flying in so I would want to pack as light as possible but wonder just how many layers and changes of shoes might I need? ugggh. Thanks for any advice!

I agree with the other posts. I always pack in layers and I would advise you to do the same. Even bring some rain gear, like a small folding slicker of some sort, just in case. Oregon has very unpredictable weather.
