We came here on a recommendation from friends, as we were in town for the Prefontaine Classic. It has a great view of the countryside. We opted for the cheese and charcuterie board, which, while not cheap at $55, was quite large. More cheese and charcuterie and less fruits and nuts would have been better, but it still was nice.
We ordered glasses of wine instead of the tastings, which seemed expensive at $28 to $32 for 4 small pours. We had the seven rows Pinot Gris ($20), which was excellent, the 2017 Kennel Chardonnay ($17), which was fruity, and the 2013 Kennel Pinot noir ($24), which had a lot of fruit for an 11-year-old wine. A special that day was a 2002 KE Pinot noir ($25), which, while having lost much of its fruit, still showed the aging capability of well-stored wine.
Service was great.

Fortuitous GPS glitch while seeking directions from Florence to Cresswell led us by this impressive winery. We were ready to stretch our legs, so we decided to stop in, and stayed for dinner in their restaurant.
The founder and current owners (the King Family) have developed, improved and maintained a marvelous vineyard and winery, well worth visiting if anywhere in the Eugene area.
We had a wonderful bottle of Tempranillo during our dinner.
We plan to make a special trip from Southern Oregon to visit this place again with friends.

Went to lunch at this beautiful winery. Excellent food and service (albeit expensive). Chantel was a great server. Also did a few flights to taste their wines. Really fun experience overall. Actually ran into Ed King and he couldn't have been nicer. Definitely worth the trip to Eugene and out to King Estate!

We have been to King Estate several times. Yesterday will be the last. If you are planning on having lunch be warned they stopped serving anything but an over priced charcuterie board. Ours looked like a 5 year old threw it together. For 55.00 take some pride in your presentation! Our server was awesome, she was knowledgeable and worked hard. It was a disappointing experience.

If you are impressed with looks you will like this winery. Very nice estate, lovely views, and attentive wait staff. However, the staff is so busy attending the patrons, your questions regarding the wine are sometimes not answered fully. We buy a lot of wine, and we don't mind spending $50-$60 a bottle-if we like it. We left this winery empty-handed.

The view is beautiful. The grounds WOW.
Hadn’t been since COVID. 2/3 years
I have been there through the years for lunch and dinner. Great place to take out of state company.
No lunch menu to our shock! The prices $$$$
Every thing was an “add” on. “A” basket of bread $10. My ribeye had two bites of grissel for $58 I wanted a different experience. Our 10 an 12 year old ordered the Swordfish $44. No hamburgers.
No greens just a piece of fish on a plate. Come on?
Time for new chairs they are worn out.
Servers were perfection. Ours was knowledgeable an attentive.
Won’t be back $300 for lunch is just two much. An it wasn’t a bar tab. No one was drinking. Last time I was there for lunch the restaurant was full. Now 3 tables inside 3 outside that’s it

I checked on Google and Facebook to make sure they were open and it stated they would be open at noon. We drove a half hour from Eugene to enjoy Kings Estate wine tasting. After arriving much to our disappointment they were closed.
Suggestion that this business make sure updated times are changed for tourists.
It would of been a wasted trip except we found out that Sweet Cheeks Winery was open. Sweet Cheeks were very accommodating and their wine was very rich and delicious.

We weren’t sure if King was open. We drove the 45 min to see and we’re not disappointed. Great bottle of wine with a charcuterie plate with many items from the property. Unbelievable views. Will go back soon.

I want to preface this review by saying after our disappointing luncheon, I wrote a detailed letter to King Estate, sent copies to the restaurant manager and general manager, and have never heard one solitary word back from them.
I am the "Out and About" chair for a group of mostly senior women. I began the process of making a reservation for a group of 19 for lunch on May 8, 2015 (for an outing on June 17). From the reservation making process to the day of the outing, I placed seven total calls, was sent into voice mail of three different employees , ultimately I placed four calls before anyone actually spoke to me and took the reservation.
As soon as we were seated the waitress told us about the "4 credit card rule". Their system is set up to only allow 1 credit or debit card per 4 people! Even when we told her about 10 were going to pay with cash, she said she could not put 10 separate checks into the system! This "rule" was never discussed on the phone, nor is it published anywhere we could read it!
Food:
The French onion soup was fantastic. The crab cakes...miniscule! Salads, on the whole, were disappointing and poorly dressed. Two people ordered sides of French fries and both were so heavily salted they had to be sent back. A Reuben sandwich was ample in size, but dripping in butter. And I do mean actually dripping. Some guests enjoyed their food, others, not so much.
As a group, we have gone to King Estate for three successive years. We will not be going back next year. It's a shame such a beautiful location is poorly managed. It's disappointing to me that no one ever called or responded to my letter. We may be senior citizens, but we are savvy seniors who use social media and websites like Trip Advisor everyday!

My wife and I have been Tower Club members at King Estate since 2006. We've enjoyed the atmosphere, the people, the staff, the food the wine, the tours, the events...you get the picture. Today we took a friend who has heard us boast about this place on many occasions. The wines available to wine club members have now been limited to a few choices, the tour is a joke, and the only reason this review didn't receive a "terrible" rating was the lunch was it's saving grace. They do charge for bread with lunch and dinner, so I might change it after all. This winery used to have a special feeling that you got when you belonged to their wine club. Now, there is nothing that sets it apart. It's not special, it's not unique, it's not worth the visit. And it's not worth joining the tower club, which I'll be dropping.

Not that I recall. The visitors center is quite extensive and the winery does offer walking tours, but I'm not sure if they would allow general walking of the grounds. I'd suggest emailing or calling the winery to be sure if it matters to you.

Want to stay in Eugene and visit this winery and a cpl others, any suggestions on lodging?

The Hampton Inn, 3780 W 11th Ave in Eugene is the most convenient for visiting King Estate. It's reasonable and comfortable. phone 541-431-1225. There are lots of other choices in the Eugene/Springfield area. If there's a Duck football game happening, you won't have much luck finding rooms available.

I would like to visit in April 2017 and wonder if tastings are available at that time?
Written 29 January 2017
Yes, all day long, but the best doing just before a tour. enjoy,

Does this winery have any outdoor areas where you can have a glass of wine and sit on the lawn?
Written 28 July 2016
Absolutely! You will find bike tours that stop by for lunch as well so dress up or stay casual for lunch.

Do I need a reservation for four for a late lunch, or can we just show up (2 adults, 2 teens)?
Written 4 July 2015
Depends on the day. Weekends pretty much require a reservation but during the week you can take your chances. Call ahead anyway as many tour groups show up for tours and tastings. I recommend booking a tour before you eat as it is worth seeing how huge an operation it is. Bring your cameras.

I called to check -- you can just show up; however, reservations are strongly recommended, especially Thursday through Sunday. Reservations can be made at 541-685-5189
