Awesome view of a lighthouse

It's very, very odd to me that this is an attraction. First off, you can't actually GET to the light house, you're just staring at it from miles away while on the Clatsop Loop Trail Hike viewpoint. The best thing about the view is everything else the view has to offer - the beach, the crashing waves, the shoreline, etc,... More

best viewed from Ecola State park. The picture above is pretty much what you see - best to bring binoculars for a better look.

To me, this is best viewed from Ecola State park but there is a state park fee. There are several pullouts on 101 to see the lighthouse, learn the lighthouse's history as well as other interesting facts.

This lighthouse is really different from others I've visited. The volunteer gentleman who explained it to us while we were in the lighthouse was very informative. It is in a very pretty park like setting - great place to picnic.

Amazing to see from afar of course, the waves crashing around it! Even on a cloudy day, you can catch glimpse of her!

Interesting where they put this light house. You can't visit it but its interesting to look at and wonder what it must have been like to have worked there. Especially on a stormy windy night!

Interesting history. I live nearby so I pass it often but recently learned more about it. You can't just drop in and visit. As the photo sows, it's one mile offshore where big breakers sometimes cascade 1000's of gallons of water over the top during stormy weather.

The tour of the lighthouse that is open from 11 am till about 4-5 pm from mid week to Sunday is a must. A senior couple was volunteering at the lighthouse and acted as our tour guides. There were no mandatory entry fee, but donations are welcome to keep the lighthouse going. Learnt so much about the history and design... More

Terrible Tilly they call it. There's not a lot to say, other than it is an interesting sight. I hope you travel with binoculars, it's view-able without but more interesting close up.
