Beautiful beach! Short hike from the parking lot along side a little creek flowing into the ocean. Watched locals surfing and saw a few Dungeness crabs and unfortunately a dead young humpback whale that had washed up on the shoreline. Take the time to walk...More

Lots of options at this state park. Stunning coast and some good hikes. Beach is short walk from parking (lots of parking) and bathrooms.

Hiked to this beach primarily to see Blumenshine Falls on the north side of the beach. Unfortunately, in late summer, the falls are basically dry; best to come during the rainy season to see and photograph the waterfalls.

Leaving Cannon Beach and heading south we stopped at a magnificent, but windy, overlook in Oswald West State Park with the beautiful Neahkahnie Beach as a backdrop, thousands of feet below

Oswald West is a great surf spot for people from out of town. This is a place where the locals won't hassle you, the waves are usually 4-6 feet, and a wetsuit saving sand bottom. The beach is also nice. It is a bit of...More

We visited short sands beach in Oswald State Park. Well worth the 1/2 mile hike down to the beach. Beautiful beach! Many surfers and fun loving dogs. Great family location. Several parking lots along highway 101 with facilities.

Fortunately we hit this jewel of a state park on a warm and sunny weekday, dressed in layers and wearing unfussy shoes. This park is not far south of Cannon Beach, and is prettier than anything we found there. The trails are almost all paved,...More

In dry conditions a good athletic shoe should be fine; if wet, I would recommend hiking boots. Also dress in layers as temps vary along the trails and be sure to bring drinking water for each hiker.

Yes, there is a wide asphalt gradual pathway that goes to the beach. You access this trail from the parking lot on the east side of 101
