We loved Short Sands Beach. The trail to Cape Falcon, though, was a horrible slippery mess - you should definitely skip that! Meanwhile, with better weather, the South Neah-Kah-Nie Trail and view would have been super as well. And if you only have time for...More

This state park was little known to me before we arrived at Cannon Beach, but we found it exhilarating to hike through the forest trails. The woods are beautiful, divided into sections that are interconnected, so that you can walk either a long or short...More

You can get tangled up in the different paths on the way to the beach. It's alllll worth looking at! Loved every minute of it.

There is a short walk to the beach from the parking spot off 101 - it is well worth the effort with wonderful trees, streams and wildlife all ending in a sheltered beach with excellent views and easy surfing. The area and paths are looked...More

Checked out this beach taking the 'short sand trail from the parking lot' but just about got blown away by strong winds and rain. Still neat to check it out. Hope to return when the weather is more cooperative.

We did various trails in the park but by far our favourite was the one down to a secluded bay. The trails are well managed and easy to hike. Such a beautiful hike through the forest and then the opportunity of walking along the secluded...More

Oswald West Park was probably my favorite with the nice walk down from Hwy 101 through the beautiful rain forest. The beach with all the rocks and tide pools with the tide out was fun to explore. We walked probably a half mile north and...More

Will we need our hiking boots for the trails in Oswald, or will sturdy shoes/sneakers be sufficient? Thanks

In dry conditions a good athletic shoe should be fine; if wet, I would recommend hiking boots. Also dress in layers as temps vary along the trails and be sure to bring drinking water for each hiker.

Yes, there is a wide asphalt gradual pathway that goes to the beach. You access this trail from the parking lot on the east side of 101

Just google transportation from Portland to Cannon Beach. There are some bus lines that go there regularly. Once there you would still need to get to the park, ( 15 -20 min. down the coast ). The Cannon Beach Chamber might... More
