Not only is this museum very well done inside and out, there are numerous hands on, films and talks going on during the day. Check out the schedule and you will find yourself spending a lot longer here than you intended. One of the permanent exhibits revolves around the earlier settlers to the area and their reasons for being there.... More

Have been to museum multiple times, and have always enjoyed it. Watched the raptor birds presentation, and walked around inside and outside.

I first visited this museum 26 years ago and what I remembered was the wonderful porcupine discussion. To my delighted surprise they are still giving the presentation. Very educational and we just loved it. We saw the raptor birds presentation as well and my husband was fascinated by the perigren falcon. We really enjoyed this museum and it is extremely... More

Thank you for your review and the history! Porcupines are important species in the High Desert. They are great to have on display because they can be easily overlooked in the wild. The peregrine falcon in the Raptors of the Desert Sky flight program can really put on a show zipping around and through the audience! More

I wish that everything was working. Other than that it's great! The kids exhibits were broken, the sawmill wasn't working, the otters were closed.

Thanks for your review, but sorry that some exhibits were not open. Now for the good news. The Autzen Otter Exhibit renovation is complete and the exhibit looks great! New viewing areas, interior mural, interpretive panels and more. The sawmill is up and running, too! Scheduled to run several days throughout the summer. We have some new art exhibits opening... We spent all day at the museum and only scratched the surface. We've been a few times and it's always new and different. This is going to be a regular activity for my family. Be sure to visit the River Otter exhibit. Rogue and Brook are fun to observe for hours.

Thank you for your great review. The newly remolded otter exhibit is a great place to watch those two. Check the daily schedule to see when the otter encounter is because they're almost guaranteed to be active during that talk! More

As one of the very few museums in Central Oregon, you'd be well served by taking a peek! It's fun, great exhibits and animals, and wonderful special exhibits. Perfect for young and teen families, and even those without children in tow! Enjoy!
