I have visited a couple of times and I primarily enjoy the outdoor sections especially the logging and animals. The indoor area is very informative about the high desert however and really puts it in perspective to toher types of environments.

The High Desert Musuem is very popular in the summer with families, but we enjoyed it in the snow last week. They have rotating exhibits inside, all of which are excellently done. Outside, we enjoyed the Birds of Prey sitting on their perches in the snow or hiding within their structures. The otters are fun to watch at feeding time... More

I took my 93 year old mother who was visiting from Nebraska, to the museum for something fun to do. She absolutely loved it and was surprised that a museum of tihis quality was in such a small town. I always enjoy High Desert Museum and it should be a must see for visitors to Central Oregon.

Pretty well laid out museum. Very clean. Cool animal enclosures. Unfortunately the otter exhibit and most of the outdoor cabins were closed when we visited but it's still worth an hour or so stop.

Thank you for your positive review! It sounds like you were visiting us during what we are now referring to as "snowmageddon." We apologize that many of our outdoor exhibits were inaccessible during this time. We do hope you return again now that the snow has (mostly) melted. More

My family truly enjoyed our day at the High Desert Museum. The guides were dressed in period clothing. Very knowledgable staff. Everything from covered wagons, and chickens in little jackets to a sea otter show.

When in Bend, this is a must see...especially with young kids. There are many interactive displays, interesting and little know history of the area, and always a talk about the local wildlife...frequently with friendly critters roaming the room! You'll find many buildings to explore, each with different themes. Take a self-guided or group, narrated tour. Rotating exhibits of special interest... More

We live about five miles away from the Museum and go there in the summer and my grand kids love it. We love to visit all the little creatures that live there.
