Ten minutes south of Bend. Well marked on the highway with a left turn lane. Exceptional and educational experience. The museum covers native American history and culture, the good, bad, and ugly portions. Animal exhibits within and outside of the building. Well maintained.

The High Desert Museum is one of the most interesting museums I have ever visited. We arrived early in the morning when the museum opened so that we could explore all that the museum offers... Natural History Walk at 10 am, Reptile Encounter at 11am,...More

Very illustrative and interesting - both the native american, ww2 and general desert exhibitions. And the odders are just charming :-)

The High Desert museum is relatively small, but includes much. Indoor displays include reptiles to World War II displays, Native American to local history. Outdoor area is part of the museum, with easy walks to the otters or bird display. A pleasure couple of hours.

A great place to visit especially with children. We found it a very informative venue for American history. The exhibits are well made and maintained. Don't miss the raptor show!

Been here a number of times since I was a kid, and never tire of it. They tend to have rotating exhibits, so there is always something new to see. And the animals are always fun to see. Look forward to going again!

We've passed by this before and finally decided to visit. Wow! A lot of time and money obviously went into this museum. Even at our ages (average 70) we learned a lot. Lots of grounds, too, which we had to skip. I'd call this a...More
