In Centennial Plaza is the fantastic 'East meets West' life size bronze sculpture, a Tulsa landmark dedicated to Cyrus Avery, honoring 'the father of Route 66'. Avery was given this title because he lobbied Congress in 1926 to make it a national highway stretching from...More

This is our second trip to this Route 66 Memorial. Don't miss going up on the walking bridge. Bring a padlock and place your name on it an add it to the fencing on the pedestrian bridge. A cool idea. Don't miss this attraction

I didn't know Cyrus Avery was one of the prime movers & designers of Route 66 and this plaza has wonderful statues to commemorate its history. Adjacent to the plaza is the Cyrus Avery Memorial Bridge (no longer in use) across the Arkansas River.

This sculpture depicts When East Meets West. It shows a horse driven carriage meeting up with a model T Ford. The detail is amazing, down to the grasshopper on the car's radiator. The exhibit is under the Route 66 Cyrus Avery bridge, which also has...More

Got some bike lanes that go across the river. Cool spot. You also get a nice view to Tulsas downtown.

Rout 66 has more miles in Oklahoma than any other state, due to Cyrus Avery, the planner behind the building it, being a native son. We are getting more and more really neat sculptures, and attractions along Route 66 all the time! Cyrus Avery Centennial...More

We weren't looking for this but so glad that we found it. I love anything Route 66 and the sign over the street caught my attention. What a lovely walk along the river. The sculptures are amazing. So much detail! Definitely worth the stop.
