The museum was well done. Hiwever, when I asked the gentleman at the desk a question he spent 10 minutes telling me his family history over and over. He no doubt has a history to be proud of but he only answered my question after I had asked it three times. I was trying really hard not to be rude but he should have respected my time also. I only write this in hopes he will see it and tone it back. I visited museum out of curiosity and respect but now I think back and wish I had just walked away. Too bad

Yes, I've been here. The thing is that my C.R.S. memory isn't very good. This facility may look inpresive, but does it truly reflect what happened in the Great Plains. History is biased. I knew that when I was schooled those many moons ago.

My wife and I, as well as a couple of our granddaughters, visited this museum and enjoyed the visit. There is no charge for admission. The museum isn’t large, but the kids were kept busy with a scavenger hunt to look for items in paintings that were on exhibit. I enjoyed the exhibit regarding the Comanche code talkers – predecessors to any other Native-American tribe that provided code talkers. The people at the museum were very kind and gave each of the kids a white buffalo.
Ask for a “Discovery Trail” card that you can get stamped at any of 8 Lawton area attractions and receive a free gift. You can get a nice blue Comanche museum back sack when they stamp your card.

This museum was another unexpected find in Lawton, Oklahoma. First of all it is FREE, but I would have been willing to pay a small entrance fee, so don't let the free part fool you! It is small, but very well done. You stroll through and read about the history of the Comanches. There are a few articles on display, several paintings and you can listen to the language as well. Our niece and nephew enjoyed the scavenger hunt that was set up for kids looking at the paintings. Enjoyable for all ages and well done! (Very clean bathrooms as well).

The Comanche museum is newly opened. It is free (big plus) but also is right behind the McMahon theater next to the great plains museum. The experience is a walk through the accomplishments and contributions made by Comanche wind talkers.
Really high quality museum. it isn't very big but great quality. I loved the panaramic video clip of the D-Day invasion with sample code talkers. What a rich full sensory experience listening to the actual voice, seeing the real footage and seeing the translation in english as captions. The German memorabilia, US uniforms and tributes to the commanche warriors who provided their important service to our nation. I would highly recommend the experience.

While staying in Medicine Park I made a run into Lawton to attend this museum. The highlight of the trip was spending about an hour talking with Mr. Carney Saupitty, Jr., Cultural Specialist at the museum who was minding the reception desk. A wealth of knowledge!

We show up at 8 am when they first open and they are more than ready to receive us. The staff is so sweet and open, sharing their history with you.
It is a small museum but it gives you a picture of the Comanche tribes: history, culture, artwork and of course the coder.
Free admission, and parking.
Do pay them a visit, memorable experience.

My wife and I were looking for something to do on a rather windy spring afternoon and came across this delightful museum. The receptionist was very informative and talked about two Code Talkers he is related to and brought to life the exhibit we would soon enjoy. This small museum is very, very well done and provides a volume of information about the tribe, it's origins, and it's place in contemporary Lawton. Especially interesting is the current Code Talkers exhibit about the use of secret code talk during WW II. The museum is free but you are sure to leave with a wealth of information. The staff was first-class and spent considerable time with us explaining and answering our questions.
