About
The Bartlesville Area History Museum is a 10,000 sq ft facility focused on the preservation, education, and promotion of Bartlesville area history. It is located on the top floor of Bartlesville City Hall. The Bartlesville community has a rich and colorful heritage with roots tracing back to the Delaware, Cherokee and Osage peoples, who lived in the region before the arrival of white settlers. The area's heritage unfolds with stories of oilmen, Indian chiefs, ranchers, bankers, outlaws, schoolteachers, smelter workers, shop clerks and many others who helped to shape a tiny frontier settlement into a modern city. Visitors are offered interactive displays, exceptional photography and intriguing artifacts, for a glimpse of the early years of the small settlement.

We enjoyed this museum because it traced the entire history of the city. The area is very rich in the history of the oil discoveries in Oklahoma. This is very well done, with several audio stops which enlighten you on main subjects. The cost is free and it is on the fifth floor of the city hall.

This is a free admission small museum on the fifth floor of the Bartlesville City Building. We visited for about 45 minutes last July.
It contains artifacts and tableaus in chronological order of the history of this Phillips 66 oil town. There is also a short video that illustrates the oil industry, and its effects on the area.
The museum is worth a visit if you are in the area.

I was pleasantly surprised my the presentation of the history of Bartlesville and Washington County at this museum. Located in the 5th Floor of City Hall, the museum is well done. They do special exhibitions of local history too. Sometimes they present movies that have a connection to the area.
If you are looking for something specific about the area whether historic photos, historic businesses or homes, people, tribal history, geographic locations, and more, this museum has extensive collections.
It’s worth a peak!

I was shocked. Wonderful displays, helpful and friendly employees are available to answer questions, and full of many different pieces of Bartlesville history.
Frank Griggs, a historical photographer, greets you and tells you about the museum. His photo display shows the area and people through out the years.
Native American displays of the local tribes.
Phillips Petroleum Company displays. Local dairy/milk displays.
Photos of education in Bartlesville. Gift shop.
What a wonderful afternoon!!! I will go back.

Bartlesville Area History Museum is a wonderful treasure in our community. Displays about area history are rotated out often so you can go several times a year and see something new. The schoolroom is used for children's groups. Small lunch time speakers are scheduled at various times and their gift shop is full of books and gift items.

I was visiting here for work and saw an advertisement for little chocolate boots and hats the Museum sold, so I decided to go up and visit it one day. It was during lunch on a week day so I should have expected it to be slow, but I was the only one there which made it a little awkward. Still the lady behind the counter was nice, I went for a Bartlesville postcard and they had exactly what I was hoping for. I got a few chocolates on a stick and some souvenirs for the rest of my family in their little store. They have a $3 suggested donation next to the sign in sheet if you are going there to walk around and look at the history and pictures.

I am a native of Bartlesville and I have visited our local museum a couple of times. It is always interesting for a local
but may not be very exciting for someone from out of town.

Wonderfully curated history of Bartlesville. Especially enjoyed push button recordings of Cherokee language lessons. Comprehensive history of families who built the town.

We were very impressed with this small town museum about Bartlesville. The museum tells the story of Bartlesville' small beginning, the petroleum pioneers and Indian tribes. Each display is well presented with several pushbutton audio narrations. Plus, it is free and located on the top floor of the Bartlesville City Building.

Helpful staff with exhibits about the Indian and Oil folks that settled and build large companies. Visitors view the exhibits at their own pace. Not a real large place.
