Not far from downtown Zanesville, Lock 10 may well be the easiest of the locks along the Muskingham River Park system to access. Well maintained, with some great views of the area, and the Lockkeeper's House is one of the best maintained along the chain. Never knew Mississippi River had lock and dams. Huge tugboat pushing six big barges went thru lock as we were approaching. Spectacular site!!! Great scenic stop as you enter Guttenberg!

If you're already in the area or passing by it's worth it to just check it out. It's interesting and really big but not really worth making a special trip for unless you're into dams.

Unusual "gate valves" permit viewing of water flows. Both valves and gates are manually operated. Great photo opportunities for enthusiasts. No viewing bridge. Boats transit at irregular... More
