More maps located around the park would be helpful.
If you are there to hike; choose before you go, from the internet. It give you explanations of the trails. We never made it to the manor, it states there are free self guided tours on the internet. This park is huge, and the hiking though the tall mature trees is great, but as a birding spot, the birds, get lost in the tall trees, and they are too hard to find. There are play ground areas, and the restrooms at the old stable are a hoot to see. They have screen shoots of horses heads on the stall doors as through it still was a horse barn. This is NOT a 1 time shot to visit and see all. This is a many time to visit and see some.

We chose a very pretty, warm day to visit. Trails varied as to difficulty but none were extremely hard. We WERE disappointed that a very large section of the walking trails were completely closed off and there were LOTS of walkers, many with dogs and they were not very courteous to other walkers. The day was a disappointment overall even though the weather was nice.

We walked around Wildwood on an unusually warm Christmas Day. Apparently many others thought like us, as the walkways and trails were as crowded as on a summer day. I've visited Wildwood many times previously, and once, I think, when the Manor House was open. The grounds and house are well-maintained, and Wildwood is a great place for a casual walk. I wish the Manor House was open more frequently though!

This was my first choice for my family picnic, however, it was packed with families already so we went to my next choice. It's a very beautiful park. Lots of people running with dogs, pushing strollers, just enjoying themselves throughout the entire park. One day, I'd love to come hike the trails with my kids and doggies, and see all the beautiful things already pictured here. Plenty of paved parking.

Wildwood is beautiful with it's history and nature. Make sure to cross the covered bridge, view Stranahan Manor, and travel the bridge over the marshy area behind it. Many birds live here in all seasons. There are nice bathrooms, which is always a plus.

The mansion isn't open in March, but one can visit the grounds and gardens. There are interpretive signs around the estate that help. Besides the estate, there is a whole park with walking trails of various lengths. I walked to the covered bridge on one trail and also did most of the Meadow Loop trail. The Floodplain Trail seems to follow the river through the park. There is a playground and park ranger station. I'd like to visit again to see the house.

I use the parks nearly every day since I retired. A walk down the university parks trail then into Wildwood happens more often than not. There's so many different things to see and explore within Wildwood.

They killed 80% of the deer there without a chance for public input including fawns. They shot does over bucks because pregnant does were a "two for one." They did there best to keep it a secret. Now it's just another walk in a park with thoughts of the park management's blood lust and a sad feeling for the "protected" lives lost. From my understanding they also make sport of killing the raccoons. It's a sham to call it anything close to "natural." People and dogs overrun the park and they blame the so called "damage" on the friendliest and most beautiful creatures that ever walked the area. They were a blessing but like all blessings, they were put down by uncaring powers and their lackeys.

Since Metropark culled (killed) the Deer, just a boring walk looking at all the dead trees and branches on the ground. Overcrowded and lots of mosquitoes in summer.
Maybe a good place to jog. Lots of joggers.

I used to enjoy Wildwood but not anymore, I can't help but think about the deer that used to be there, its not the same without them. This park has been ruined because of it. I can hardly get thru the park without being hit by a cyclist and I don't appreciate all the mosquitoes. I've noticed all the weeds and dead trees there plus not enough waste cans. And who would go there to look at a rare plant? Wildwood is notorious for joggers, bikers, family picnics, etc. and I understand its a singles meeting place. Can't walk my dog there for fear she'd be mistaken for a deer. Thanks for not protecting the most important wildlife that were there.
