The Liberty Aviation Museum is a newer "working" museum that opened in July of 2012 at the Erie-Ottawa International Airport (PCW Carl Keller Field) in Port Clinton, Ohio. Our museum consists of our B-25 Mitchell, WWII bomber "Georgie's Gal" built in 1945, recently restored by Aero Trader out of Chino, CA. Ground vehicles include a 1941 Dodge ambulance, 2 Jeeps, German 37mm AA gun, German Horch Truck, German Field Kitchen, German Kubel, 3 BMW Motorcycles, Tiger Tank Replica, Hetzer Tank Replica, Panther Tank Replica (currently undergoing restoration away from the museum), & 2 WWII PT boats under current restoration (The PT-728 Thomcat is currently on display while restoration work is being completed in the museum's new hangar expansion. The sister boat, the PT-724 is currently on display outside by the museum's second hangar. The PT-728 Thomcat will be available for boat experiences when restoration is completed. We have many items that are on rotating display that may not always been on display throughout the year during your visit. Please contact us if you are interested in viewing a specific item. On permanent display within our galleries is the WWII service uniform of actor Clark Gable. The museum also has 3 screen worn uniforms from the actors who played Col. Klink, Col. Hogan, & Sgt. Schultz from the TV show Hogan's Heroes. The Liberty Aviation Museum is also honored to have on display the Congressional Gold Medal belonging to 2nd LT. Aden Earl Jones of the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders. The coin was signed & presented to the museum by LT. Col. Richard E. Cole on April 22nd, 2016 at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Also, throughout the year we have many events such as big band hangar dances, Ford Tri-Motor rides, WWII era B-25, B-17, C-47, & AT-6 aircraft rides, Waco Biplane rides, concerts, books signings, car shows, and more. While traveling from Cleveland to Dearborn, I stopped at the Liberty Aviation Museum and was OVERWHELMED by the breadth of Ford Tri-Motor memorabilia on displayed. And, the aircraft they also have on display in the rear hanger is outstanding . . . including a superb B-25 Mitchel Bomber "Georgie's Girl". AND . . . the diner provides a great menu... More

My husband and I stayed in Port Clinton for a week. We went to the Tin Goose diner. WONDERFUL! My husband and I are were delighted! Very, very clean. And our server, Heidi, was great. We loved the menu. We went back again, even though they don't serve acholol which we are accustomed to having with our meal. Second time... More

It's been a couple years since I've been through the museum, although we are at the diner every time we go to the Lake. The museum has been enlarged by adding another building housing the different aircraft, MASH vehicles, fighter jets, etc. It is well worth the modest price of admission.

We thoroughly enjoyed about 2 hours here touring the exhibits and hangars full of aircraft and vehicles. This included a 2-year old grandson. For the most part good interpretive panels. Interesting connection to early plane service in Lake Erie. Nice touch with music and furnishings from the time. Great to see that volunteers are restoring additional planes and that one... More

I took my 82-year old dad to this museum on August 15th. I wanted to see the restoration of the WWII PT boat in progress. Much to my delight, the restoration is just about 99% complete. My wife and I got a once-in-a-lifetime ride on this boat when it was located in Key West in 2007. It sure looks much... More

It was nice to get a little history lesson. If we had known in advance about the pancake breakfast they were having we would have arrived sooner and not eaten breakfast beforehand.

A great idea having a restaurant next to the museum. The 50's -themed diner was a perfect fit for the museum. great food for a reasonable price.

My husband and I visited this museum out of general curiosity while we were in Port Clinton for other reasons, and it was an impulse amply repaid. You don't have to be an aircraft nut, Ford Tri-Motor fanatic or a WWII historian to enjoy what's on display here. While aviation is the heart of the enterprise, it's not the whole... More
