Ohio Glass in Lancaster vs Heisey Glass in Newark
Aug 2021 • Family
We have now been to 3 glass museums - 2 in Ohio and 1 in Pennsylvania. I really was disappointed that the glass demonstration was done by video. Also the glass collection couldn’t compare to the exquisite display at the Heisey museum in Newark, Ohio.

Ohio Glass Museum: A History of Glass Making
Jun 2021
Beautiful glass pieces on display, part self guided, and part docent led. Lots to learn about the glass industry in this area and the history of glass blowing. Lucky for us, they have resumed the glass blowing demonstrations. The woman blowing the glass was very knowledgeable and really did a great job explaining what she was doing. Anchor Hocking Glass is made here in Lancaster, Ohio. There is a gift shop to purchase glass of all kinds there. Entrance fees are also reasonable.

Must-see for glass lovers and local history buffs!
Jul 2020
This museum highlighting the glass industry in southeast Ohio is great! We saw so many beautiful pieces of glass and learned so much about the local glass companies, including Anchor Hocking (one of our faves), and how the town grew with the industry. And there is always a new temporary exhibition highlighting a new topic. We received a very informative tour from one of the volunteers. In spite of the constraints of visiting a museum in the time of COVID-19, the staff and volunteers made this visit without any problems. One door to enter, another door to exit. Plexiglass at the counter where you pay. Hand sanitizer available. And new kiosks with wonderful info about each exhibit. Unfortunately, during this time, they were offering glassblowing demonstration, but hopefully those will be back soon.

Beautiful glass displays and great glass blowing demo.

At the Ohio Glass Museum, the Ohio TuesDayTrips folks came for a tour and demonstration of glass blowing. We were guided through the museum by Angie who is definitely passionate about glass products and the beauty provided by them as works of art. Her husband, father and Grandfather were all glass blowers in Lancaster.

The museum has displays of many different vendors glass such as Anchor Hocking, Fenton and Westmoreland. There is handmade and blown pieces and also molded pieces which were the basic low-cost glass products for the average consumer. Some of the most fascinating pieces were the laboratory glass with intricate tubing inside outer tubes in differing shapes and sizes.

After the museum tour we were seated overlooking the glass blowing furnaces and work space. The glass artist was Traci and she made a paperweight with an internal colored design. The onsite glass artists make items sold in the gift shop of the museum. This was fascinating and we would recommend this tour and demonstration whole heartily.

History Glassmaking
Jul 2019
The Ohio Glass Museum celebrates the many historic and world-famous glass-making industries that have existed throughout Ohio. Located in downtown Lancaster, Ohio, home of Hocking Glass and Anchor Hocking. Beautiful displays of vintage and antique glassware with educational demonstrations of glass-making technique. A must-see for glassware collectors everywhere!

If You Like Glasswear, This is a Must See
May 2019 • Business
Lancaster is the home of the Anchor Hocking Glass Company. It has had quite an impact on the city. But this museum displays all kinds of glass along with glass blowing demonstrations. For those who would like to try there are glass blowing classes. Great place.

Thought we was going to get to see a demonstration on glass blowing. We waited until they opened at 1 pm. and they did not have it. Would not go back.

Fantastic Experience
Nov 2018 • Couples
We originally came in to make our own glass Christmas ornaments, which was a really good time, but stayed to wander through the museum. After you make your own glass anything you realize just how difficult it is. It makes you appreciate the work in the museum that much more. The staff at the museum was absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good way to learn more about the hard work that goes into glass making.

Nice variety of displays, with knowledgeable docent. Friendly people. Displays rotate. Nice video background, too. Large gift shop with good prices, to boot. They have glass blowing and other classes, too.
