This is a great place to see how convicts lived and worked when they were assigned to landowners in Van Diemen’s Land. The buildings, including the little church, have good signage to show the convict story and there are many farm buildings to explore. There...More

I love going to places like this - outbuildings of an old homestead that you can walk around at your own pace. There were a number of buildings including the original house and outhouse, church and the working buildings. The resident cat kept us company...More

Brickendon is a great view into the farming and convict era of the early 1800's in Tasmania. The guided tour was excellent. Even some of the original buildings are still being used for farming, in conjunction with the World Heritage listing.

Adored Brickendon - well worth the visit if you are passing. Some beautiful architecture, the style of some of it was totally unexpected and very European. What an insight into the lives of our forebears.

The village farm is a working farm with an amazing history. Part of the Archer family story which includes the Woolmer Estate. Definitely worth a visit. Fantastic historic buildings.

Very personable approach to the whole settlers and convicts story as the property is still owned by the descendants of the original settler family! I loved the fact that it was self guided and that they had lots of artefacts and details. In one of...More
