Friendly and knowledgable staff who could not be more helpful. The museum and old train engines and carriages are fascinating to look through. The royal carriage used by the King and Queen's mother was a delight. The gift shop has some lovely things and plenty of goodies for young children. Complimentary tea and coffee was very welcome on a brisk... More

The train journey is very short. We took a picnic and ate it at our destination and came back on the train a hour later. We then spent hours looking over all of the old trains in the yard, in their various states - and the signal house. They and the museum were fascinating. We all enjoyed it.

Don't pass by this little corner of Devonport. Where else can you get a free train ride AND a hot drink included in your entry fee? The staff are all volunteers, and clearly passionate about their beautifully maintained trains, and their history. The trip to Coles Beach and back runs beside the Don River, and through the adjacent reserve. Make... More

My hubby and I stopped here on the last day of our trip to Tasmania. My husband has always had a passion for trains so we went along to check it all out. The staff (which I understand are volunteers) were quite grumpy and disinterested. The entry price was way too high for what is on offer. There were no... More

The kids loved this 1970s train. It's only a short ride and when you get back to the station you can explore the yard including parts of the workshop. It's all volunteer run but the people are friendly and helpful. The old carriages from the 1880s were amazing!

The volunteers should be very proud of the professional way they run this their tourist attraction. Staff are experts in their field, friendly and enthusiastic. The train journey is very nice and the exhibits and workshops are exceptional. Well done, many professionally run organisations could take lessons from these volunteers.

A very cute tourism place that people of all ages can enjoy. The train trip (included in the entrance fee) was very informative and we found the experience to be one of the best value for money attractions in Tassie. This railway is run solely by volunteers who must be congratulated for their professionalism.

Situated just near the Don River a short distance from central Devonport. Well preserved old train carriages and steam locomotive. Historically relevant as it boasts transporting Prince Edward

A trip back in time for both the Little Kids and the Big Kids is provided at this Must Visit attraction. 5 minutes drive out of Devonport CBD, this is very well presented and managed. A visit to the workshop is also a must, to see what is under repair. You will love the smell, sight & sounds of this... More
