What a fantastic experience our guide was excellent and she had a real passion for her job and both the platypus and echidnas. Amazing to see the animals up close and the explanation of both animals Highly Recommend

Guided tour only but you get a good & knowledgable spiel on platypus and see several in their tanks. BUT the highlight has to be the echidnas. You go into a separate room and several echidnas are let loose to wander around your feet. Keep...More

Platypus and echidnas are unusual and interesting, and the up close experience was lovely. The guide was informative and friendly, happy to answer questions. Good place to take visitors and children.

I took my kids (6 & 10) to Platypus House while my husband was at a conference in Launceston. We really enjoyed ourselves. It was a little less "exciting" than Seahorse World, only in that I'd seen these animals in other places, however the tour...More

This is a real hidden gem of a guided tour. Very informative guide talking and showing us in small groups about the platypus. Feeding of the echidna at the end of tour was one our highlights of our trip to Tassie. I’ve never ever seen...More

We were travelling through the area and decided to stop off at the Platypus House. I asked the lady at reception whether the $24.90 entry price included the adjacent Seahorse World and was informed that they are owned by 2 separate places and that the...More

Sorry that you had this experience. Not sure why the chain of events happened as they did but sounds like our staff were being mindful of time constraints and trying to get you on the next tour with out having to wait another half an...More

This is the second treat in your Three Venues Pass for Beauty Point. Unlike most zoos, which have artificially darkened enclosures to trick the nocturnal platypus into foraging in daytime, Platypus House has active platypus in daylight. The guides are also great at explaining all...More
