A must do bush walk to climb the rock

This is apparently the biggest granite boulder in the Southern hemisphere and it certainly was spectacular. We arrived early in the morning and had the place to ourselves. Be very careful on the drive out as there are many wallabies by the road and we needed to stop a couple of times as the jump out in front of the... More

Bald Rock is a must see, it is quite spectacular. I walked up the back track which was easier than climbing up the face, then I walked down the face hanging onto my husbands arm, we zigzagged down the steep face. If I can do it anyone can.

Take the Bungoona bushwalking track around the back of Bald Rock then up to the face of the rock. This track passes through beautiful bushland. It's great exercise, with a gradual upward gradient and a few areas of steps. The track passes through enormous granite boulder formations such as The Arches, which tower above you. From the face of Bald... More

This is without a doubt one of the highlights of the region around Tenterfield. If you are fit and healthy definitly take the faster steep walk up to the rock. For those like us who are a little older and slower the 2.5 km walk is the best one. Also on this walk you get to see some wonderful features... More

Climbing Bald Rock is a unique and unforgettable experience. Physically it is strenuous, especially in the summer so remember to take water with you. Having said that, almost anyone can do this activity. We saw families with young children as well as elderly couples move around the rock with ease. So if you have concerns, then take plenty of water... More

..... The first time I came it was raining BUT I still spent three hours wandering this magnificent monolith . The second time I went it was bright and clear and I spent four hours . Both times I had the place to myself . It is awe inspiring and humbling . Why the place wasn't overrun I have no... More

This trail in Bald Rock NP has two options, one takes you to the summit in a shorter, yet more difficult almost vertical ascent. The other, takes you on a longer but gentler and from my point of view, more interesting area. The forest of tall eucalypts and other trees is nice and as you approach the summit area, the... More

The signs say the 3km walk to the top ( round trip) will take you 3 hours. We took a very leisurely 2hours to do it which involved lots of stopping to admire the view and take photos. Half our group went the steep way, which they didn't brave on the way down as the rain appeared which made the... More

Only a short (half hour) drive on bitumen road from Tenterfield, this "geological gem" is a "must-see" for all visitors. Nice picnic areas and a fair-to-middling camping grounds. add to the desirability of Bald Rock National Park. A couple of walks of varying lengths plus the optional (and very rewarding) climb up the rock will make your day one well... More
