Menindee lake's. ... WOW what a disappointment. Menindee lake's caravan park in the space of one year has been allowed to turn into a wasteland, occupied by tourists I wouldn't leave 5 cents near. Loud music , drunk and openly having bongs. Pretty disgusting the...More

Fascinating place if you like history, but this is all you will see - a historic tree and information plaques. It is in a camping ground which just has a small block of toilets. But it is also close to the Menindee Lakes so great...More

Funny how a doomed & failed journey still resonates in today's world. Part of Australian folklore and a part of Burke's folly as he ineptly led the expedition to its fateful conclusion. The campground is a lovely spot alongside the water and the expedition team...More

The Burke and Wills expedition split at this spot with the main group camped here (Camp 24) from Oct 1860 to January 1861 whilst the ill fated four continued on to Cooper Creek and then up to the Gulf of Carpentaria. There's not much left...More

To stand at the spot where Bourke And Wills Expedition camped brought on some unexpected emotions. Its a good place to camp there are toilets and water supplied. If the lakes have a lot of water in them then the scenery would be amazing. If...More

Great to stand in the spot where Burke and Wills camped on their ill fated in land expedition to the Gulf. The bark has grown over most of the carving, but still worth the visit.
