The Menindee Lakes use to be a haven for waterbirds and wildlife, now as they Lakes are drying up the waterbirds are leaving. Although still an interesting place to visit, it has lost a lot of its charm. The main reason is that the Darling...More

It was an awe inspiring trip into Lake Menindee and the system of Lakes that I am so pleased to have been part of. My one big disappointment was that we didn't stay the night to experience the sunset across the tree studded lake. The...More

The poor people of Menindee have been robbed of their Lake & recreation area by greedy cotton farms in western Qld.

It is hard to imagine Lake Menindee as a lake. At present it is completely dry. The lakebed is an endless stretch of cracked earth. As a photographer, this allowed me to walk down to the tree line and get photos not normally available. While...More

We had five days free camping at the Menindee Lakes. Self contained is a preference. Fill up your water tanks. The bird life is wonderful. Pelicans a plenty. The day trip into the National Park is great for a drive and picnic. Thoroughly recommend a...More

The price was sensible, they allow you to bring your own drinks and food, and take you ashore to explain local points of interest. The sunset cruise offers the best option for photos of dramatic sunsets.

I was truly amazed by the immensity of the lakes. It is truly a photographer's paradise from every angle. However I am extremely disappointed that we didn't stay the night for one of the magnificent sunsets.

Large lake somewhat off the beaten track with many many dead trees around it. Burke and Wills campsite is nearby.

This lake system has spectacular views particularly at dawn and sunset. The bird life is all that one could hope for.

There is no laundromat in Menindee, the closest is in Broken Hill. The caravan park, however, in Menindee has a laundry which you may be able to use. Hope this helps.

The road conditions vary depending on any rainfall. The Tourist Information office in Broken Hill will provide a daily report on all local road conditions.

Rob, There is a very help tourist information centre. I suggest you contact them as they will be able to assist with detailed questions like boat hire, etc. Enjoy the lakes.
