Hiking up the river to the waterfall is a great 3 hour activity. It takes about 1 hour to get up there and hike is moderate. You'll most likely see snakes, lizards, parrots, horses and dogs. Depending on the time of year you might need bug spray. The biting flies can be a little nasty . Worth it though.

The waterfall is lovely, but coming from Canada it is not spectacular. I loved the quaintness of Yelapa. with the small winding paths everywhere. The beach area was a little too commercial for me.

Easy jaunt can be done barefoot. Fun to go through the town and see the sights. It can get crowded if you go when the day-trippers are in town but it's always beautiful.

This waterfall is breathtaking, all the more so because of its proximity to the town. If at all possible you should go early in the morning to fully appreciate it. Once I went early and there was nobody there but me. If you are going to buy souvenirs it's also better to go early. When I went early the prices... More

This was a nice hike but was paved so it was not difficult. My friend jumped in the pool and enjoyed the refreshing dip. Too cold for me!!!

Caught a boat to Yelapa and after dropping people on the main beach we were taken to the dock on the other side, which gives easier access to the waterfall. You do have to walk a bit and it is worth it, but think the excitement built up around it was built up a little too much.

We really enjoyed the waterfall. It wasn't crowded at all when we were there. It was very quiet. The trees and foliage were very green. The path up was steep and a bit hard to do in the heat. It was also difficult to come down in order not to fall. Some vendors along the way and some restaurants. I... More
