we visited with our teenage son we hadnt taken him for years - was very interesting - yes lots to read but kept everyones attention. Staff very friendly. Very interesting place would definitely recommend visiting.

Came here with my daughter and there is loads of history to see, plenty of things to read and to do. A little shop. Toilets are on site. Guides are there to help you with some historical information. Worth a look.

Excellent well presented museum and site. Well worth spending time to explore. Gives an very good insight into Roman life in South Shields.

This site of Roman Fort is fantastic place to visit. Reconstructed West Gate gives fantastic view over site. Great models of how Fort looked during Roman times. Excellent reconstruction of soldiers barracks and what cramped conditions they lived in compared to the commander or consul....More

We parked right outside on the street... We did worry about it before we went, and thought it too good to be true... but sure enough... On a Saturday you should be fine I would have thought.

The site is mostly/partially accessible to users of a mobility scooter most parts can be seen but there are parts that are not accessible
