I popped into the museum whilst in Tow to see the King Coal exhibition. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very informative. The rest of the museum is well worth a visit also.

Went specifically to view the King Coal exhibition by local artist Bob Olley. Had a good look around the rest of the exhibits and viewed the menu for the delicious Victorian Pantry ( had just eaten or would definitely sampled the menu). The exhibition is...More

Great place to visit and free! Really interesting museum and child friendly. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. The coal exhibition that is on at the moment is excellent. Plenty to see and interest both young and adults.

A nice tea room and museum. The food is very nice and reasonably priced and when you have finished you can walk around the museum and look at the history of days gone bye.More

Surprisingly good. Looks small when downstairs in the shop area but quite roomy upstairs. Interesting local artifices and information. A good way to spend some time. Small cafe inside too.

This museum is tiny, but still worth it! The entrance is free! It has a small collection from different subjects! The best was the animal section where it has life animals, which sadly also hosts 4 BIG tarantulas.....

I took along an American Catherine Cookson fan - a pitiful exhibit considering what used to be on display! Pretty outrageous that Catherine Cookson and her legacy are virtually no more in South Tyneside, especially when the area must have profited so greatly from their...More
