This is a really great place! Very interesting tour by Lois who engaged with everyone in the group - young and old! The tour was almost an hour and I was a bit worried my 8 and 6 year old would get a bit bored...More

I went there with some friends. I enjoyed the experience and the volunteer staff are very knowledgeable. We did have to climb a lot of stairs which are steep - but that is a part of the learning experience. **You should be aware of this...More

One of four surviving windmills in the Greater London area. The friends of Shirley windmill hold open days a few times a year and you can go inside the mill - well worth doing.

Good for family visit during summer months with a guided tour and lecture about windmills in general.

The windmill is in fantastic condition and a little gem tucked into a residential close. Quite a feature for the residents. It wasn’t open to view inside when we visited but I have seen that on a previous visit and that is really worth seeing.

Worth a visit. It is important to be proud of our heritage. Staff volunteers are friendly, and welcoming. Stairs are tight so if you have mobility issues perhaps avoid.

This is a lovely place at summer and the small cafe provides really nice cakes and tea. There is a guided tour of the windmill at certain times although you can go around independently.

Be very careful . Even though no yellow lines and free parking residents on that Street don't like people visiting the windmill and key your car's then post about it on Facebook saying they don't like visitors .cost me £350

Fascinating to see a windmill right in the middle of a residential area. Interesting mill, and good guidance from the volunteers.

I decided to stop of during a cycle as it was on route. Lovely old windmill and there is parking spaces if you decide to drive . I don't know the history behind it though and you aren't able to go in side .

The Windmill is open on the first Sunday of every month through to October and on the London Open House weekend. I think it's open from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm and the tours go fairly regularly and last about an hour. If you... More
