The Roaches Peak District

Lovely area of the Peak District on the Buxton Road north of Leek. Great views over the countryside. Easy to medium walks. Minimum car parking.

This in an iconic area of the South West - Peak District National Park. Looked after by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, has some lovely walks, and fabulous views.

It is a beautiful area with room to park the car, places for lunch and good pubs. Best seen in spring and summer, but winter (if it does not snow0 is attractive

Just a short drive out of Leek is a lovely walk with beautiful views. It's advisable to wear walking boots as it can be a little slippery on the rocks. Suitable for all ages but great for kids, not too challenging but be aware there is a deep pool of water along the walk this is the Doxey pool where... More

The Roaches are an amazing outcrop of rock which makes for a dramatic and interesting landscape. If you go to the other side, Roach End, there are less walkers there and the scenery is amazing, with a 360 degree panoramic view across Leek and Titterworth Reservoir and Cheshire. My dogs love it up there and so do we.

Fantastic walk, high over the Staffordshire moorlands with great views towards Macclesfield and Leek. We even spotted Jodrell Bank lit up by sunshine.

Lovely spot for walking, climbing for families, couples, groups. The walk to Lud church is fab, it is a natural opening through huge rocks, full of moss and green foliage that looks really dramatic. Lots to do locally, many places to visit.

Have walked here twice this year, more recently with a walking club. There is parking in several long lay-bys on the road below, but these can soon fill up with walkers and climbers, especially at weekends. The views are wonderful along the top, and while here its worth paying a visit to Luds Church.
