Attended with my husband last Saturday and found it an extremely interesting place. We were unsure what to expect but were taken on a detailed tour of the premises which included the boiler room, machine room and blacksmith forge. Many parts of the premises have...More

We actually went here last year and found it very interesting. The volunteers were extremely knowledgeable and because it wasn't busy that day a volunteer took us on a personal guided tour! Well worth a visit!

We went last Easter after checking that all was running. Several static engines were steaming and the maintenance workshop was very interesting. The big pumping engines are fantastic. They started one up and a 50 ton flywheel moves around driving large linkages - would have...More

I live locally and had known about the restoration but not visited. Wow! There is far more to see than I ever imagined, what an array of engines, small to super big. All were impressive, only eclipsed by the volunteers who made the whole site...More

Although you can go at other times to the Pumping Station, it is only in steam for 13 weekends of the year so it is probably best to choose one of these times to see the full glory of the machinery working as it should....More

There was people with dogs walking around when we visited. All on a leash though. The working machinery may frighten a dog though and steam release etc.
