Currently closed for 18 months refurbishing and covered with scaffolding. Will be great once completed, etc... but at the moment, just a building site.

As mentioned in previous posts the castle is closed until spring 2018. It is also covered in scaffolding which spoil any photo opportunities somewhat. However there is so much more to the island of Lindisfarne than the castle. The historic priory for example is very atmospheric and even if closed (check the English Heritage website for opening times) good views... More

This is an old fort perched above the Northumberland coast which was turned into a private home in the early 20th century and is decorated by n Arts and Crafts style

Disappointed that we couldn't get too near castle as there is major repair work going on that isn't scheduled for completion until April 2018. HOWEVER, don't let this put you off visiting this unusual place. The village of Lindisfarne offers plenty of places for food/coffee, gift shops, parking. There seemed to be quite a few places offering B&B accommodation or... More

We came here on a beautiful, cold, sunny day. The island is well worth a visit and we wished we could have stayed longer but due to tides we had only one hour.

Fab, lovely views, a nice walk from the car park too. Quite steep to climb up but they have been because I had a baby strapped to me! Lots to see and learn about, an absolute must see.

Visited here and was amazed by the castle after having a good look round. The island is also fantastic. If you are able and get the chance you must visit this majestic place.
