Only my second visit to this unique, and very lovely church. Built by Cromwell during the commonwealth era (1650's) with stones re-used from Berwick Castle. Only stayed for just over 1 hour, and although I am not very religious, it was an enjoyable visit.

This is the church close to the Barracks, it is behind a bigger church. There are some beautiful painted glass windows. Very quiet and peaceful.

Very interesting Cromwellian church in its architectural structure and is unique in that only three of them were ever built.

No bells, no spire or tower. Inside simple stone effect. Worth a look. Helper inside to give you more of the history.

This church is open to the public, no cost. Documentation provided explains the history and changes that have occurred over the years. If you are interested in such history, this is an excellent location to visit.

We parked near the church so had a wander round before getting back into the car. Was so lovely to find that not only was it open, but it was warm! What every place of God should be. Demonstrates that it's not just a church...More

Time for the trees to be trimmed as its hard to get a proper view. The chapel at Brougham Hall in Cumbria is from the same era and also lacked church bells, a chancel and altar, a pulpit, stained glass, a font, etc. Makes you...More
