Simply Stunning!!, the Water features a triumph. You visit a garden (anywhere in UK in September) you know it will not be in full bloom, but did not detract from its beauty. The Poison garden was totally mind blowing!!!, Congratulations to who thought of that!. Wonderful, Stunning, Amazing.

Had a nice visit to Alnwick Garden in September 2022.

I’m always honest in my reviews so I’ll just say it, it is a little pricey. I understand a lot of man power and hours will go into the gardens but for two of us it was like £34 and no entry to the castle comes with it.

We also pre booked the lost gardens adventure golf which was £9.60 for two. Highly recommend that it was well looked after and good fun. Kids will love one of the wholes as a spider squirts water out!

The gardens itself were lovely - I bet in summer they are even better as the plants will be in full bloom.

Our favourite part was the poisonous garden tour. I learnt some interesting facts which I won’t spoil by saying here (the tours included with the price) the other favourite for me was the swing benches in the trees such a lovely idea!

The gardens are stunning, so much to see from the fountains to the cherry orchard where there are swings galore set in the trees. Also the cafe is excellent. Well worth a visit.

Came here for a visit on our first wedding anniversary but think it was the wrong time of year. Everything was brown and dying with no flowers on them. I’m sure the gardens are absolutely stunning in spring and summer though. The poison garden tour was very interesting though. I think priced at £15.50 per person, is getting on the expensive size, but as I said I think in summer May have been worth it.

This garden adjacent to Alnwick castle is among one of the best designed we have visited.
A regular guided tour around the poison garden was well presented. A number of wooden swing seats are fun to sit on and the formal garden has a large variety of shrubs and plants. But the piece de resistance is the arrangement of water features which is amazing.
To finish the visit, as well as very tasty cakes, the cafe/restaurant has a floor show of ducks that provide entertainment.

Inspirational! What a vision. Curious why the garden is so distinct from the castle and equally why the gardens are well run, great catering, shop etc whereas the castle is fascinating but commercially so tacky and awful.

I do have an annual pass as it's cheaper to have that. It's about £15 for a day visit but if you upgrade to an annual garden pass for £20, lasts year. From Newcastle the arriva day pass is £8.60 return or £6.70 single.
Different times of year have different flowers out say cherry blossom early in the year & summer has a flower garden. There is a poison garden in which they do tours to explain everything.
There are different events over the year say a summer garden party, winter lights, Halloween events. These cost extra though if you want to do them. I've been quite a lot and with the summer we've had it's been lovely. In the walled garden with all the flowers on a lovely summer day perfect. Then there's the main feature the fountain.
There is a glass restaurant/entrance & on hot days it's even hotter, underneath. Think I've only had one rainy day last week the whole year.

After seeing the plans for this garden in tv, this was noted as somewhere to visit; and it did not disappoint. We stopped for the gardens only, and the cascade is a superb centrepiece around which tunnels formed from native trees provide a sheltered pathway from top to bottom. Along the path there are a couple of openings which open to circular pools with fountain, fed by rills form the top lagoon. At the base on one side is the most excellent poison garden ( well presented by Ray with humour and knowledge) which was fascinating, On the other size is a simple maze leading the visitor to several different locations each of which houses a different splendid stainless steel fountain structure. The very wet weather led to us curtailing our visit, but what we saw we enjoyed and would return.

This is a fabulous garden, beautifully designed with lots of surprising spaces and characterstics. The water cascade is definitely worth waiting for (lasts for 6 minutes every 30 minutes), and you absolutely MUST visit the Poison Garden - very informative and not a little frightening! The treehouse restaurant is also worth visiting, though you should book in advance if you want to dine. All in all a great place to visit.

Our main reason for visiting Northumberland was to visit Alnwick Gardens and in particular the Poison Garden. We were lucky that the rain held off and we were able to spend a sunny afternoon here. The Poison Garden tour was interesting but not as involved as we were perhaps expecting. However we did enjoy it and really enjoyed exploring the rest of the gardens and having a swing too!
