The Tanners Arms ale house features six handpulls which carry all-local real ales, judiciously chosen, fastidiously kept and a pleasure to sup; a good selection of whiskies to warm and revive every palate; regular live music sessions of all varieties; the most eclectic jukebox in Northumberland; and most important of all, a friendly, laid-back environment full of good crack and camaraderie. A good old-fashioned English pub, and a pleasant spot to while away an evening…

In my limited knowledge of Alnwick, I found The Tanners Arms the best pub in Alnwick. It was a recommendation from a local (I'm from Staffordshire) and they were not wrong. Not a bad pint to be found in here - and none of your...More

A clear focus on beer and a cosy atmosphere makes this one of the few surviving real pubs. Definitely worth a visit.

We spent a very pleasant couple of hours here, drinking well kept ale and listening to the eclectic jukebox. No pretensions to being anything other than a pub, and all the better for it.

Good selection of real ale on tap. My husband had great fun having halves to work his way through the beer selection.

Another holiday in Alnwick and back to our favourite boozer in town! The staff here are always friendly and recognised us from previous visits which is always a nice touch. Six handpulled real ales which are changed regularly and a selection of draft lagers as...More

What a fantastic pub with great selection of good quality 'real' beers, ciders and spirits. It felt really comfortable and we could have happily stayed there all night. Had a great jukebox but didn't drown out conversation. Friendly bar staff. I was half-tempted not to...More

This is the classic english pub. The locals streamed in and gathered round to share stories of their day.

Popped in for a pint and found this wonderful wee pub by chance. Have since read the other reviews and they don't lie. Friendly staff, great beer, very comfortable atmosphere. Don't miss a visit if in Alnwick.

Secreted just outside the walls of the old medieval town of Alnwick I encountered this fantastic little pub whilst on a recent holiday. Comfy seats, plenty of elbow room, eclectic jukebox, amazing selection of competitively-priced drinks... icing on the cake was the friendly, cheerful staff!...More
